As the title states.... I am looking to come back to SA.....

can anyone give me any ideas on what a modded R32 GTR will be like to tranfer the rego?

thanks!

Hmmm, it totally depends on level of mods. If you can list them then it would be pretty easy for us to ascertain. Also if it look ricey then it'll make it harder.

ok mods will be as follows

apexi FC

hks pods

trust greddy split dumps

3" exhaust

tien HA coilovers

18" R34 GTR wheels

trust FMIC

700cc injectors

battery in the boot

2 pod gauges

boost comp

and maybe turbos to 2530s hmmmm

but yeah it is a clean car, and if its going to be a drama I will keep it on NSW rego!

PFC to come out, boost controller to come out, coil overs to come out, gauges to come out if they are on the A pillar...Then cross your fingers and hope they are having a good day :D

Im also with my NSW rego here in Adelaide, and they ask me to take the car to a Vehicle ID Inspection to make sure it wasn't stolen or something, this is to transfer the car to a SA rego, it was done in Regency,

took the car there and the car didn't pass the test.......No it is not stolen that was all good of course but the guy didnt like the window tinting, I asked him is there was anything else I would need to fix or get done he said no, thats it come back when you get rid of the window tinting and you are done!

I have Tein coilovers, BOV, HKS Pod, 3"Exhaust, 17" Wheels, the car is very low, but they didn't seem to care about this.

So it all depends on their mood really, unless there is another test I need to pass before I can transfer my Rego, and im unaware of. uhmmm. no good.

hmmmmm window tint.... well my car is rather dark at the back! but this was the way I bought it.... ;)

how will they see the apexi FC? no handcontroller? and why is adjustable boost a crime?

I think I will just leave the car with the NSW rego, it seems Adelaide is just too hard to have a nice car anymore!

the thing is , that apparently If you have been living in a different state for more than 3 months (in this case SA) you become resident of such state and you should change your rego to that state or you may incur any fines applicable.

But then again, how are they gonna know ;)

I reckon the P FC will be fine, looks like a factory unit really. I think you'll be suprised that it will be OK. I reckon some people have really overstated the issue here in SA, RELATIVE to other states.

I disagree mate - I have heard of tons of horror stories - including my own when I tranferred my near stock MX6 from NT to SA rego.

It massively depends on the mood of the assessor. There are hundreds of stories of ppl being told to fix 1 thing and come back - only for them to find 10 more things when they go for a final inspection.

Dean had his car complied, then got defected for something so took it to Regency again, and it came off defect. Then he got defected again later on and took the car to Regency and they told him he had to have 'chassis bends' fixed. Now these were caused by a forklift in Japan when originally loading the car before he bought it. So the vehicle had gone through Regency twice already and they never picked it up, but the last time they just wanted something to ream his ass, so they picked up the fault and he had to get it fixed.

FYI williamF1 - they will almost certainly make you personally remove the tint at Regency and won't let you drive it anywhere. They handed me a blade and told me to do it on the spot :)

its a game of russian roullete when it comes to vehicle inspection at regency. One day you might get shot while on another day you wont - all depends on the attitude of the inspecter. Like andrew and many others who have experienced it, you should expect the unexpected. On the bright side, i hope you get through out any dramas. YOu might like to look at the sticky thread on regency experiences and get an idea of what im saying.

Based on my experiences I think you will be fine, just make sure you take the Sturt Vehicle Inspection option over the Regency Park Vehicle Inspection option.

Oh, and I would also definitely recommend to remove your driver and passanger window tinting, or maybe make a fake receipt from Tint-A-Car or something and say your tints will be removed later in the week.

I was given a formal caution for my driver and passenger windows, but I still passed. The exhaust, rims, bald tyres, A-pillar guages etc didn't get a mention.

The younger inspectors took a fancy to my car though, which helped my cause...

Good luck!

Yeah i have heard the same story

Just take it to Sturt cop shop and they can do it there, alot less painful anal wise than regency so i have HEARD

really!

hmmmm I have 2 relatives that used to work in the sturt station.... nice! I will be doing that!

Well it's not actually the cop shop you take it to at sturt, its the transport SA place next to it.

They are pretty good there, they just check the numbers to make sure they match up and aren't stolen etc.

They are supposed to do a basic roadworthy test on it to ie. checking indicators and brake lights working etc.

I didn't get that far when I tried to take mine through, seeing as it was a 15yr old import it didn't have a compliance plate so I had the joy of having to go through regency.

anyone taken a car to sturt? reports?

A mate has taken his 180 there swapped from VIC to SA, had a few mods, tyres werent the best and tint was too dark!

He had my sister take it thru and they told her to take the tint off and get new tyres soon, but all passed then and there.

I suggest making the car look somewhat stock to the eye, hence finding some stock wheels and raising your coilovers, and if too loud sussing a baffle plate for the day.
