Ive driven a five puck ceramic button clutch before and they take a bit of practice to get used to compared to your organic clutches but definitely a good upgrade. A bit of a bitch in traffic but practice makes perfect. Im thinking of getting a 6 puck ceramic button which will be a bit easier to drive than the 5 puck. :D

im not worried about the feel, ill drive anything. More worried about my poor old gearbox. Its reconditioned but ill really crack the shits if i shatter it with an over the top clutch.

Lanfoh, what 6 puck are you looking at?

Was looking at the one UAS website as I know they do some good work, a bit pricey but they do have a fair bit of experience with skylines. Havent really decicded yet though. My standard clutch is slipping like a **** so Ive gotta act quickly. :headspin:

Use the 9 puck cushioned button ceramic from extreme.

Have fitted and sold heaps of them and are a very good, progressive clutch that your mum could drive but will bite when launched.

We have them in everything from RB silvia's in drifting to GTR's with 400rwhp and they work well.

Cheers

Lanfoh......its an rb20 box

I've been looking at the cushioned ceramic from extreme, although looks like theyre not a puck design plate like the button?

"The cushioned ceramic is one disc option and is not a puck design like the

ceramic button units. The next step from a cushioned disc is a twin."

Plus they are an extra 100 bucks, 650 delivered and every dollar counts for me at the moment.

If the ceramic button isnt going to destroy my gbox it seems like a cheap option

I cushioned cermamic clutch is what i was looking at with my chaser i think for daily driving with a bit of track use they are worth the extra money. i ended up with a twin plate clutch which i love easy to drive but they ain that cheap

How many puk is this clutch?

The price is nice, but for the same price I have found a exedy clutch plate with pbr pressure plate (or $650 for a full exedy organic 5 puk kit). Don't mean to hi-jack but are clutches pretty much all the same?

For those who have this clutch - I'd like a step up from a heavy duty organic but a step down from a full on brass button, will the xtreme one listed on that page be ok?

i couldnt disagree more...

i just installed the 6 puk cerametallic one hoping for a nice on off feel.

and was quite dissapoint.

there is SO much ride in it.. have i done something wrong?

i dont mean like HEAPS of ride. but about the same as mine old organic exedy boring heavy duty.

quite dissapointed indeed..

this is with a freshly machined flywheel too..

I run the Xtreme 9 puk 1tonne clutch, I bought it from Tim the previous owner of Horsepowerinabox.

Its fairly nice to drive. Shudders a bit when you try to ride it but still has enough give to take off smoothly at the lights.

It is very easy to have it chirping the wheels when letting it out.

When parking you basically have to either let the clutch totally out and idle in or let the clutch out move forward and dip the clutch before it shudders, then repeat the procedure until you have parked/reversed etc.

I have grown to quite like it. The grab & ride-ability is very similiar to a OS twin plate I've driven, BUT obviously the pedal feels harder.

what he said

got mine yesterday.. tis very nice.

Pics of the 9puk.

From memory the HD is around 800kg's, the XHD is 1000kg's or 1tonne.

My previous clutch was a HD 800kg organic clutch. Wasn't too bad. Fairly light.

There is a noticable difference with the XHD.

My little mum can't drive the car, the clutch is too heavy with the XHD.

Probably because she's used to a Landcruiser and prior to that Patrol that had power assisted clutches.

What I would give to adapt one of those Nissan power assisted clutches to the r32. :D

    • I totally couldn't do the whole kids taking up my life thing! 😮 I find it bad enough doing 45 hours in 4 days, and then fitting normal adulting life into the other 3 with no kids! As for my mates race cars, they're AMG C63 setup for production racing. The original is what has just been stripped and a brand new shell built. The original is then going away to have some panels straightened, then it will be put back together again. Then there's a third that will shortly head off to have a roll cage put in, then build it up too. And potentially a fourth to be built too... Oh, and he has two Renault Clio D class production cars, ha ha. And when he's not racing them in the Australians and QLD production championships, he's been racing one of Chaz Mostert's Lamborghini's in GT4. They just won GT4 at the 12 hour in the Lambo. We're pushing to finish the new AMG as it has its first round (and potentially its first shakedown/outing) in under w weeks for Round one of QPC, and that round is really the shakedown to make sure it's all good for the Bathurst 6 hour, which I'll be at too. Ha ha ha Working on my project is different to his, I slowly tinker and work ways to make things happen on a shoe string budget. Hes in a good position that he has a massive workshop full of parts and tools, ha ha. He also looks after me. When his air compressor died, he just needed it working, so bought himself a new one and gave the old to me. Sand blaster unit too, and a 20t pressing. And pretty much all the shelving in my shed too as he upgraded all of his (the stuff he gave me is the expensive black Bunnings heavy duty stuff)!   I enjoy working on his stuff. No decision paralysis, and anything that's needed parts wise is just there. Plus, then I get to be hands on at the track in real racing, not just club day stuff.
    • I know which one I'd prefer to have in my garage, and which one I'd actually drive as intended
    • Yeah mate, no probs. Just swap the email addresses?
    • I definitely agree with you there - I never click on content for cars I would never ever be able to get or compete with/against/be seen next to. Seeing a MX5 compete with a FD RX7 will make people upset though, for sure. Even in 2.5L Turbo form which is pretty grass roots. (or at least as grass roots as classic cars can be) Yes we're all classic car owners now.
    • Wonder what the cause is, but here's hoping it's nothing too serious.
