just wanted to put to the vic boys on what type of BOV sounds the best and whats being able to get a way with the cops, i mean plumb bcak ones or the venting ones (they sound awsome) ?

also can you have the origanl one still in place with an after market one hidden somewhere else ?

I'm assuming that keeping the stock BOV is so that when the cops look under your bonnet you tell them that you can show them that the BOV is stock? Is the stock BOV venting or plumback? If you come across a cop who knows what he is talking about and hears a venting BOV then you show him a plumback BOV then you will most likely be caught. Also if a cop knows his stuff then there is a chance that he will se the aftermarket BOV also, just thought you should keep that in mind.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but don't most people change the BOV in their cars because when there is increased boost pressure the stock BOV opens before the throttle plate closes, so having a stock one still connected (unless its glued/welded shut) will defeat the point of purchasing an aftermarket BOV....

Also I think that the only legal aftermarket BOV's are the plumback ones also. :D

you mean the flutter noise? that noise is not considered good its the air hitting the spinning compressor wheel and its getting chopped, cars without a bov are known for this, like the vl turbos. its fairly common to kill the turbo eventually from the flutter at least i think it is

i have a pod and it does have a nice sound but what i was looking for was one that made more of the "dirdirdir" sound not just loud hissss.

If you want the flutter sound, you can just block off the standard BOV, it will make the sound.

Its not good for the car, the flutter noise is the sound of the BOV not doing its job. Everytime i hear a car with a BOV that flutters, i laugh. Who would pay money to do something to their car that damages it?

If you want more info on this, do a search on flutter. This topic comes up at least once a week.

I've got a HKS SSQ, Only reason - got it new & very cheap and stock one was stuffed. Been driving the car for 13months now. No cop problems (yet), no stalling problems (Apexi SAFC 2 & heaps of other stuff).

As Rhett says in the previous post, "flutter" is no good for the car, just use a good condition stock one, or aftermarket if you want noise & to replace or unwilling to fix a damaged/non working stock BOV.

Blitz Dual Drive bovs have a nice sound and you get a little sus filter addon for them.  I'm curious about the greddy type S bov.  Can anyone describe what sound it makes if any?

hey, just thought you'd like to know about the GReddy type S BOV, i got that on my series II, im running a front mount and about 12 pound boost, it sounds awesome with my hks pod filter. ive adjusted it to make the flutter and its heaps loud. you can also have it so it makes just the whoosh and a small whisle at the same time.. deff an awsome BOV

no stalling probs either.

A mate bought a TamK.O. copy of the Greddy type S off ebay and bought it to me to fit.

I thought it looked like a really cheap copy but I had a look at a genuine Greddy one at Autobarn and they appear identical right down to the gasket that comes with it.

It was about a third of the price of the Greddy one.

It wasn't very loud with the stock air filter but is pretty loud with a pod.

It flutters a bit backing off from low boost but has a solid Pssshtt from higher boost.

The spring adjustment changes the sound quite a bit.
