Hi all,

I am a little concerned with the idle as I just got my r34 2 weeks ago and she idles at 1000 rpm [when warmed up]. The compliance sticker says it should be 650rpm and so does the japanese [OEM] sticker in the engine bay. Supposed to be 650 @ 15 degrees BTDC.

Just wondering what other r34 [turbo] owners cars are idling at?

I can adjust it of course but it seems a bit low and sounds a bit low too [@ 650]?

Thanks!

Mine's not a 34, but my 33 has always idled high (anywhere from 950-1050...

There is an idle control valve behind the intake plenum... There should be a screw which you can tighten or loosen depending on where you want your idle.

Personally I like having a higher idle - easier to get it off the line :(

Thanks guys!

I have lowered it a bit, its around 850 - 900 atm. On a cold start though it goes up to nearly 1800 rpm! Until it warms up a bit...I know idle normally is higher on a cold start but this is pretty high I think, and also loud with a/m exhaust.

1800.. thats high,

My R33 RB25DET does idle at 0650rpm when warm, which is stock, but i will probably raise it as it's easy to stall unless u give it some. When starting cold i think it stays at around the 1k rpm mark.
