I legalised my atmo BOV

I was told that atmo BOVs were illegal now and a fix for it was to filter output gases, well I looked around and K&N had one about right size but I had to modify it a bit to fit and the wire I used to hold it it on is a temp until I find something better but it stays there and thats all that matters ATM

not legal in vic- must be plumb back - as this fix still changes your emissions (loss of intake air, car runs rich, etc etc)

Atmo bovs are illegal on the Skylines as they run a closed system from factory.

If you vent this air out fuel will dump in as the ecu still thinks the air is in the system.

The only way to make it legal is to have it tuned and emission tested.

If the car was released without an AFM then an Atmo bov would be legal, providing it was filtered so it doesn't spray oil vapour everywhere.

only legal in NSW if your car has the AIR FLOW METER removed ie with a wolf 3d ver4 and so on that does not need the AFM

It isnt really the gas vented from the BOV itself, but moreso the effect it has on the engine fuel mixtures that causes the emissions concerns and problems.

In the real world we all know high performance/modified cars aren't going to effect the global warming and pollution problems in any significant way whatsoever.

The fact still remains, unless its a plumb-back its not legal by the authority's standards.

Hell they could defect you if it was a plumbback even and it wasn't OEM fitted.

To think the filter is going to do anything at all is wishful thinking, it won't help emmisions and it won't fool the coppers either. But if it does the few $ spent on the filter will be worth it.

Does this mean BOV's use more fuel even if its SAFC tunned which supposedly stops this problem?
