VIN# where is it?

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me where the VIN# is on the actual engine, not rego etc. I need to check whether mine matches up.

it wont be on your engine as such, it will be on your strut tower and compliance plate. It is the vehicle identification number so various engines can go in the car with that vin and it always remains the same

ooh that would explain it then, i thought there was some sort of ID on the engine as well. thanks for clarifying that!

sorry my mistake, i meant engine#, where abouts can i find that? i had a look the other night but couldn't see anything on either sides of the engine.

My old silvia one was near the exhaust manifold (ca18) Well that's where i think the mehcanic was looking when doing it's safety cert.. Have a look around there anyway. I know it's not the same engine but the are very similar (in thiere ways) and are both nissan engines.

I dont know where exactly, but I hope this can help a bit.

On the RB20 / 25, it's located down on the rear of the block, LH side, on a flange that the gearbox bolts up to. Look straight down rearward of the turbo (on a DET, of course), and you should see it (might need a torch for additional illumination).
