an update for everyone...

While waiting for the police yesterday (4 hours) I decided to make a few quick posters to say when and where my car was stolen from and 3 pics of front side and back, with other details of the car too.

I then stuck it on the front entrance door of all the surrounding buildings (about 8 of them)..

Basically asking them to call me if they saw/heard anything.

anyway, one call that stood out was from the building next door.

His study faces our parking area.

Now the rest of this is as typical as it gets.

He said that he works till at least midnight most nights.

Wednesday night (my car was taken on Thursday night), he said it was about 12:30 midnight and he had his light on in the study, working, then got up to stretch and have a drink,

He looked out his window and he saw someone leaning over looking in to my car. (He described it as if someone had locked there keys in and was looking to see if it was in the car..

Then another guy walked around the other side and looked in through there.

Then the one that went to the passenger side looked up ad saw him in the window looking at them and they ran to the car and drove away.

DESCRIPTION:

They were 18-25, under 6' tall, wearing caps, Middle Eastern appearance, and drove away in a silver SKYLINE.

They actually drove all the way up the driveway and got out of the car and looked at mine then drove away.

Then the next night obviously came back to get it.

the guy didn't mention anything as the parking spot isn't marked to say who it belongs to and he doesn't know me so he didn't know who to tell.

I passed this info to the police so I hope it helps.

Who knows.

I might get lucky.

I am now off to go buy a charade or festiva.

Funny.

One day you're on top of the world.., the next you're driving a festiva and not knowing if you'll ever get a sports car.

Be careful people... this theft thing seems to be ramping up again.

Peace.

TT

That sucks mate - here's hoping you get it back in one piece.

I can't believe the amount of NSW members who've either had their cars stolen or an attempted break in over the last few weeks. I've always thought my alarm/immobiliser system would be a good enough deterent to prevent my car from being stolen (yes, it has black wiring, 3 point immobiliser etc), but now I'm starting to think twice. Pager alarm group buy anyone?

true true. Had my old car broken into no less than 8 times (alarm stopped it beign pinched, even though its a vl; commonwhore) then living in an apartment complex my 95 r33 got scratched to the shithouse by some kids with rocks. Now this is my worst nightmare. I've got aftemarket 3-point immobiliser but still freak that the car will be stolen everytime i park it somewhere

Good luck finding it mate, i can only imagine what it feels like. I'm thinking that sattrak sounds like the best way to spend some cash right about now!!

Maybe we should start the Skylines Australia Vigilante Car Theft Deterrent Unit. Which basically means we hospitalise anyone that even thinks of touching someone elses car!!!!

Anyway man sorry for your loss, let us know how it pans out!!

ok mate, i was on the way to my missus house was on punchbowl road near lakemba, and at thelights saw a s14 parked the side walk,

but the front plate wasnt on the front bar...

then i remebered ur post...

i'll be in touch wen i get home and get a closer look if it's still there

no worries.

I droe past it a couple of times and had a good look.

it didn't seem to be my car just rom looks and different plates.

But I called the cops and asked if they could tell me if the plates belong to the car.

first they said no, then asked where I saw the car, I said Punchbowl rd, Lakemba..

they said what are the plates.

hahahaha

anyway, it turns out that the plates on the car belong on that car and is all legit.

so back to nothing.

    • I know this one’s the BB one. My tuner did make mention about the actuator. I am curious about the VCT as well
    • Might also needs a stronger actuator with the right preloading. With older 2019 built bush G3 units, BB upgrade or 21U housing down size makes a pretty decent gain in response as well.
    • Hey lads  so im finally putting together my rb30 forged bottom end and ran into an issue. I measured my main bearing clearance with arp main studs torqued to 60 ft-lbs using ACL H series STD size bearings and standard, un-ground crank shaft journals and got an oil clearance reading of about 1.3 thou measuring straight up and down and about 2.8 thou measuring at a 45 degree angle (just above and below the parting line). My machine shop said they measured the main tunnel and it was all within spec (they didnt say the actual measurement) and to go with a standard size bearing, which i have done and the clearance is too tight, I'm guessing because of the extra clamping force from the arp studs distorting the main tunnel. I was wanting to run about 2.5 thou main bearing clearance.  My questions are: 1. could i just use the HX extra 1 thou clearance ACL bearings? that would fix my straight up and down clearance making it about 2.3 thou, but then would the side to side clearance be too big at around 3.8 thou? 2. what actually is the recommended main bearing clearance for measuring near the parting line / side to side. i know its supposed to be bigger as the bearing has some eccentricity built into it but how much more clearance should there be compared to the straight up and down measurement? at the moment there is about 1.5thou difference, is that acceptable or should it be less? 3. If i took the engine block + girdle back to the machine shop and got them to line bore the main tunnel (like i told them to do the first time, but they said it didnt need it) what bearing size would i buy? the STD size bearing shells already slide in fairly easily with no real resistance, some even falling out if i tip the girdle up-side-down. If im taking material out of the main tunnel would i need a bearing with extra material on the back side to make up for it? this is probably confusing af to read so if something doesn't make sense let me know and ill try explaining in a different way. My machine shop doesn't come back from christmas break until mid January, hence why i'm asking these questions here. TIA for any help or info
    • I bought the model back in Japan in Feb. I realised I could never build it, looked around for people who could build it, turns out there's some very skilled people out there that will make copies of 1:1 cars or near enough. I'm not really a photo guy... but people were dragging me in a group chat for the choice of bumper as someone else saw the car before it was finished as they are also a customer of that shop. I took the photo in the above post because I was pretty confident that the lip would work wonders for it. Here's some more in-progress and almost-done pics. It gives a good enough idea as to what the rear looks like!   I have also booked in a track day at the end of January. Lets all hope that is nothing but pure fun and games. If it's not pure fun and games, well, I've already got half an engine spare in the cupboard
    • Well, do ya, punk? Seriously though, let's fu<king go! The colour and kit looks amazing on the car. Do you have any shots from the rear? I don't quite follow how the model came around. You bought the white kit and he modified it to match your car? Looks nuts either way!
