You ran a red light ure a flaming mongrel!!!! hehe

Nah seriously, this mobile phone thing is bs. Taxi drivers can play with their little beep box, u can eat a burger, drink a non alcoholic beverage. I saw a guy eating a bowl of cereal and a girl putting on eye makeup and even someone reading a novel. Its not the talking on the phone its the rumaging around in the pockets or back seat or handbag thats the problem and it takes 3 times longer to find the hands free kit and plug it in and say "can u hear me now" like 7 times than it does to just put it on your ear and talk for 30 secs.

Just another stupid law made for stupid reasons by stupid people.

Still u lost ure lic, cop it sweet. 3 months fly by. If you go the 1 pointer, the odds are that u will end up worse off.

Get off the high horse some of you, the youngster got on here asking for advice not a "come and 0wn3d me cause I am a dumb cvnt" session.

Section 10 might work but don't like your chances...sounds like copping it sweet is the only way out for you I afraid, oh and find a new job.

I think you'd find people would be much more willing to give advice if the thread hadn't started out with the implication (now corrected) that running a red was petty or the "do u think i will get off easy?" question.

I think people are trying to make the point that driving is a responsibility, and you can't just expect to break road laws (whether you agree with them or not) without some consequence.

And - whether or not you agree with it- the ‘cop it sweet’ advice is also valid- as many have pointed out a judge may not be too lenient in these circumstances, so the bosses money may better be spent finding an alternate transport solution for the period of the suspension (barristers are not cheap).

yeah driving in the states rocks! its right turn on red everywhere! i loved it. got kinda confusing tho.

when i wrote petty shit i didnt mean to include the red light. but  just the manual and phone shit.

and i was asking for advice from people.  or similar experiences. not idiots telling me what i've done wrong.. you think i dont know already?

The fines for running red lights in California are really high, like $500US or so?

Theres no reason to be angry at people expressing their opinions. On that note, why not take the 1 point thing for 12 months or whatever if you can?

Its a good oportunity to show that you can be a responsible driver, and if you are, you dont have to pay for any fines or lose your license? Not losing a point for a year is pretty easy...

yes thats what i am trying for.

in vegas you can turn right on red whenever you like. or i guess when its safe.

Paladin,

i see what yr saying and i do agree with u totally. My take is this, i was looking at 3 years and got six months instead, to me thats as good as getting off entirely, i mean in comparison to 3 years six months was a pittance right? Now there is an oppotunity for this lad to learn alot from this, basically he is facing the real probability that he is going to lose his license and his job, and possibly cause business probs for his boss for a while (until he finds a new employee), now for anyone with an ounce of Morals this is a very sobering thought, more than enough to make someone think twice about doing anything dumb for a while.

For those of you who are wondering what my fine and situation was heres a quick summery.... sorry to hijack...

Basically driving home through the boonies on a very quiet and isolated road and had some guy try to ram my car from behind, so i floored it and buggered off, right into a speed trap. I got hit with 30 and over plus drive in a manner dangerous. i made sure i pointed this out to the coppa from the start. Now i pleaded guilty to speeding and agreed that maybe i didnt have to go quite that fast, but at the time, being conservative wasnt at the forfront of my mind.

Luckily the judge threw out the drive in a manner dangerous, and only gave me a fine cos he said he could let me off entirely, again a fair cop.

NOW HERES THE THING FOR EVERYONE READING THIS TO REMEMBER.

It wasnt just the curcumstances that got me off, but also the fact that i didnt try to brush off anything the polie did as unjustified, i just said "i screwed up, i was scared, i didnt know what to do so i just tried to get out of there". i didnt say "i was justified" or "please let me off" or make any excuses for my actions. I just asked them to consider the situation in their verdict. Oh and yes i got a lawyer.

If anyone wants a blow by blow just do a search for the threads i have created, you'll find it all there.

That said i think that when ppl post these kinds of post a big "Guys... i fecked up!!!" at the start would be a good move, that way we can know whether to flame them or not.

he didnt loose his entire licence in one hit, so i reckon being on the last point was warning enough to take it really easy. and i'd agree with you if this really was a "guys, i've fecked up" post. but it's not. it's a "guys i've repeatadly broke the law, but it's petty, how do i get out of the punishment?"

like Kel said, catching public transport for a while would enforce the message. I'm not flaming the guy, i'm saying this for his and the people who's reading this post's benifit. i've heard quite a few guys on SAU write in posts that if they didnt get the shock of loosing their licence they'd be in a much worse place...............It's very possible that Mashrock would become a better driver if he wears the fines. And improving the quality and maturity of drivers should be a priority of the SAU and entire performance car community.
