GTR's are honestly in a very high category of everything..power,build,safety etc and are suprising better than wrx's,SS's etc and sorry to say even GTST's but I think the discussion was to do with GTR's rather than 33's in general so it wouldn't be because they are too common as 32 GTR's are getting very good money compared to the current 33 GTR marker.

As a person that has owned all 3, I honestly thing 33's are subject to what I think was some Jap guys statement made years ago.

Something like '32 was a drivers car and 34 has finally got that back'. Now 32 does seem to be more RWDish and 34 probably moreso than the 33 but the 33 is an awesome car and I see absolutely no reason they are less desired other than many people taking a racedrivers respected opinion. Its like a pair of shoes you love but its not "in" so you don't wear em out much but they are just as good as the newer ones.

I'm not sure if I'm confusing you or making sense but its basically peer pressure.

For $30000 I'd rather a 33 than a 32...

I loved my 33.

totally agree id take my 33 over my bro's 32 anyday. gtr or gtst it doesnt mattter.

Getting a bit old.. no longer a "glamour car".. Think people that have money, just associate them with the other "hoon" cars.. and go for your more prestigious cars. There are also a few more options available, such as 350Z, RX8, etc, in that market now and lets face it.. its only a small number that use them for their full capacity.

Mate my has an R33 GTR vspec.. drives it once a week, and drives it like any other car. Thinking of selling it, because he realises "what is really the point having a car that can go 200km/hr when you can only go 100km/hr at most". He pretty much bought it "just to have", the performance bug isn't really in him..

Once upon a time it was cool to have a GTR because there werent that many around, and it was something different. Now not so sure.

Maybe people worry too much about the IMAGE of the car.

I sold a very hot non-turbo full body kitted 96 supra. Sooooo much attention from all sorts of people in that car, most people would have said it was hotter than any skyline, I didn't care, sold it.

But I think that the idea of the GTR should be, as is my idea, to have a car for ME, so I can drive it. Everytime it comes on boost I smile, thats what its all about.

R33 is not as light and fast as the R32 so probably not as fun, maybe thats its problem... It will get cheaper soon, then they'll sell as the awesome fun car they are... anyone who thinks they'd prefer a GTSt over a GTR isn't in it for the drive.... maybe they'd better suit a lancer with full evo kit... chicks dig those.

I though GTRs were for people with no driving skills? Either way I think they are overrated.

Still, I don't know how overrated they are in here... people seem confused. You do realise that Nissan made the GTR to be faster than the GTSt don't u? Even the R33 GTR. Thats why I think they'll come good, give them time.

Its just my opinion that a high powered GTST is harder and more fun to drive.

Remember why you spend money on cars?? For fun wasnt it??

It's a different car to drive, but not harder, just very very different and the fun of pulling through a sweeper 30-40kmh faster is the sheer rush. I've found the GTR33 to be quicker and more precise/less taily than GTR32/GTS25t, but it suits my driving style, and watching the GTR prodigy vid again the other day saw the V35 almost take the GTR32 at Tsukuba while the GTR33 cleared out, and the evo/sti/GTR34 were goooone. I have a track GTS25t that is coming along nicely and once fully sorted will compete with the GTR's on track (and will be a pig on the road) but I'm also doing a little track with the GTR33 and will have a look at Winton in 2 weeks. The car demonstrated it's potential on crap rubber and garbage Apexi suspension at DECA. I managed a 6th amongst some worthy competition. Now I have some good rubber we'll see what can be done.

I think the market is making a move as they get older, and I think GTR32 is well priced from 20-25K (unless seriously modified), but 30-40K is about the max I think a GTR33 can/should pull down unless really well improved and then you have to find an appreciative buyer. Maybe I got lucky with 12K of Racepace engine and nice but annoyingly wide wheels at 30K but I wouldn't have gone past 40K for one of the very lastest GTR33's in stock trim, even though money wasn't an issue. It's unfortunate that the sellers don't get what they want but if they have to sell, and the market won't pay what is asking, then something has gotta give. You will never get back what you have put in, dollars wise, and a car should never be treated as an investment.

Use it, enjoy it, and sell it (or collect the whole set if you're like me).

Thing is, not many people of wider society would if given the choice. Most people cannot handle a fast car, actually get scared of taking it to the limits. Ever tried to take most people for a proper drive in a fast car? say your parents, etc. Half the time they'll be begging to be let out after 2 mins after you really give it some stick..

People want a new car, one thats in the tv, in the movies, in the papers, one that all their friends who know shit all about cars go "wow, he's got some money, sexy car".. and lets face it, most women know nothing about cars and will swoon over any bloke that has one of them, yet GTR they will just be "meh, whatever'.. just because its *new*.. Most of the world seems to lust after a new car, even though they lose tens of thousands of dollars on it, no guarantee of being more reliable, and not necessarily a better car. But hey, as they say, people are stupid.

Since I'm not after chicks (married 17 years) that side is solved and I don't care to be noticed, but I get mobbed by kids wanting a look and young guys in imports who love a real GTR and know the difference. I never really had the hero worship thing going for GTR's, and to me it's just a faster car with a pedigree, but some love them and some say they hate them or say they are for people who can't drive (but really just want one, they know it, they would whore themselves off for a drive) but I have what I want, and I know I can drive them to near potential so it's all cool for me.

I bought my gts 10 months ago for $25000 so if I wanted a GTR I would have bought one.

Also what car is better has to do with how/were the driver drives it (drag,track etc)

Yeah, I see what you mean by the wheels. The effort I've put into a GTS25t to make it quick at the circuit is substantial, and I'm a fair steerer as well so that has to be considered. The GTR is a far superior starting platform for all aspects, even motorkhanas of the type we ran recently.

Don't get me wrong, the GTS is still my preferred choice for the track, but I'm stupid and like overcoming obstacles and setting challenges.

Overall cost, no. The engine in the T is just too fragile while many of the engine support systems need upgrading, the shocks are dogs while I know a few GTR drivers on stock suspension are quick enough to seem uncatchable in the T. The brakes are better enough to be a worthy cheap upgrade to the T, the track of a GTR is much wider, the seats are better for track, the engine can produce more power without a new turbo setup, around 250rwkw at 1 bar on stock computer, already has a decent FMIC.

A few misconceptions. The GTR engine costs the same to rebuild as an RB25, similar pistons, same rods when upgrading, same oil pump, bearings etc. They are not unbeatable. They will have accidents and run off the track. They are no more expensive to look after or run that a T. They are nice to drive but are doughy as hell off boost so not as easy to drive in traffic.
