Speedo Arrow

Hey guys,

For some reason, today my speedo arrow has started jumping up and down lightly while accelerating slowly or braking at speeds below 40km/hr...

does anyone have any clue about what it could be?

i notice in my r32 gtst that occasionally at just above 100kmh it will jump back...no idea what causes it

also happens to me! i have never worried about it because i never drive below 40km/h...

Yes i have a "floaty" speedo too, I've heard the "gear" thingy in the back of the dash cluster which connects to the speedo cable can round out or something or get loose and muck things up, but i don't really know to be honest.

It's another thing on my list of "niggly" problems.

TEIN HA's, so yeah, add Adelaide roads to that and it could well be the arse skitting around a bit. I don't really care either, it's towards the bottom of my list.

There was someone asking about how to clean/lube an R32 speedo cable, a few weeks back. Could a sticky cable cause it? (I've got it too)

hay, just purchased a new r33 93mdoel and the spedo is way slower then what im really doing, eg if im going 60 it indicates 35, and only really hits 40km

cause when i give it a big hit and should be well over 150 it only shows say 50. could it be that the previous owner wond the ks back, and stuffed the needle thing???

is there a way to fix this

could it be conected incorectly???

Well its not solving the problem but you can get a kit from Jaycar that adjusts the speedo signal so you can make it show the right speed.

Or else find the problem.

if your speedo is out by over 100k's i'd say there is sumthin seriously wrong, u'd have to drastically change ur diff / gearbox ratios and ur tyre diameter to notice such a drastic change, unless sumthin else is wrong

More than likely speedo gear in rear of gearbox.
