Darren we paid $150 for our headgasket.

Be sure to follow the manufactures install instructions.

They make them to suit the RB26 (same as RB30) and also the R33 RB25DET with its VCT.

The RB26 headgasket is a little more expensive than the RB25DET gasket.

You can use the RB25DET gasket on the RB30DET with no drama's.

I thought it was $150, but didnt want to quote it just incase i got it wrong...but there you go  I thought Andrew (our machinist) told me it was the rb25 gasket he used as well.

Well i heard stock internals on an RB20 wit the right tuning etc can handle 18+psi, but i wouldnt go past 15psi on an rb25 due to the higher compression levels! Even though its only 2psi more should give you a shitload more power as you'd get closer to the turbos efficent power range im guessing.

just had the head pulled of my rb25,and there is nothing wrong with the stock nissan headgasket, but my engine has engested a small piece of metal!! probably left over from the dodgy welding done on the inside of my custom 4inch air take. motor needs a rebuild. so running 20psi bost wasnt what killed my engine it was foreign material.

you didnt check it before putting it on?

i'd check for dmg on the turb too, would be if its from before a turbo.

oh btw, ran up 369rwkw @ MAS yesterday.

will get my dyno sheet and more details when i have some time/scanner & someone to host it lol.

how much did it cost to rebuild your engine r31 nismoid? whats been done? who rebuilt it?

around the 7k mark, motor in and out included.

GTR Rods, Forged pistons, tuned etc etc.

Done by Ben @ Race Pace Motorsport, i wouldnt take my car anywhere else :(

What fuel and psi was that with?

    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
