Not seeing the light

I have the same problem with no dash lights or tail lights as i earthed the stereo to the illumination wire. The fuse blew but i can't fix it as it keeps blowing even with the stereo out. I think i may have melted a wire somewhere and it is goin to ground? N E ideas?

By putting your negative stereo wire onto the illumination wire you have a DEAD SHORT when you turn on the headlights.
