is it possible to hiflow your own turbo??? can you buy the wheels seperate. i know someone that can machine quite well and was wondering if it was possible to buy bigger steel exhaust wheel and compresser wheel and a gasket kit? or have i missed something completely. :)

man there is a thread currently running about high flow turbo's... could of posted this in there.

I don't know if this could be done though.

Don't think I would want something as high RPM to be slightly unbalanced because I wanted to get out of it cheap.

The problem with Turbos is that they spin at upwards of 100,000 rpm.

An unbalanced turbo will self distract resonably quickly.

To highflow the turbo, I don't think it's really that hard to do the machining, any competent machinist should be able to do it, but the balancing would be the difficult part.

The companies who do the highflowing have there balancing machines to do it perfectly.

I would say a lot of the cost of highflowing a turbo is paying for that machine..... But it's worth it. I would hate to go and spend, say, $800 on parts and then have them destroyed because the thing wasn't perfect.
