G'day Mik, so what sort of engine did or do you have these GTRS bolted to? Im looking at just a stock motor with tomei cams bigger injectors...PFC etc...

and what revs are you getting 1 bar boost at?

Stock motor with Tomei drop in cams. On the dyno, 1 bar comes up at about 4650, but target boost comes up VERY fast from there.

ahh ok pete! I didnt know you had R34 N1's I thought they were the garrett equivilent of the HKS 2530?

anyhow Im still searching for a set of N1s or 2530s..... hmmm

I thought these were one in the same BUT i will know for sure when they come off and i will let you know as i am rapped with there around performance and believe these to be one of the best turbos for a street gtr.

Peter, do your turbos run A/R 0.60 comp housings? I'm pretty sure that the turbos that everyone calls "R34 N1" turbos only run .42 housings

I know i have seen a thread on here with links to a site with all the nismo turbo specs on it but i just did a search and was unable to find it.

It showed the spec to the r32n1/r33n1 and the r34n1(ball bearing) and also had a couple nismo specials in there and the R34N1 was the largest a/r ratio turbo with a 0.60compressor and a 0.64 turbine (same as the 2530). Plus a young kid in buno took a shopping list from my car and bought all the same gear (r34n1) and these are 0.60/0.64 same as mine. I will keep trying to find the thread

:)

I'm currently getting my car tuned and I roughly want about the 300rwkw. It has the following:

Nismo R32 turbos - rated at 300ps each

RX7 Series IV Injectors - 550cc

RB20DET A/f meters

Standard fuel pump - (is going to restrict a lot of the power)

HKS Cam Gears

Will let you know how it goes.

Yet everyone raves about 2530s which have similar lag

In my experience, no, they don't. A few facts, we get 1 bar out of the 2530's at under 4,000 rpm on the RB26. The GTRS moving parts (compressor, shaft and turbine) weigh 25% more than the 2530 moving parts. So there is simply no way that they can be as responsive, given all else being equal.

This experience is not unique, the 2 fastest GTR's at Tsukuba again this year where both running 2530's. If the GTRS's where as responsive and made more power, I am sure the unlimited budgets would have funded them.

:D

I've got similar to you and will be looking for about the same power :P

I've got 2530's

Sard 700cc injectors

HKS intank pump

HKS cam gears

PFC + HC

Looking to get a set of RB20/25 AFM's and HKS style split dumps then I can start to assemble it all :D

Blitz...I don't think you can get the 2530KAI in T25 flange for RB26, can you?

There was a rumour that the kai kits were going to becoming available for the GTR, though admittedly I have only seen the KAI version of the 2530 available as a single item so far.

Might have a browse through the goodsmaster later.

I finally got my car tuned yesterday and got some fantastic results. The power I got is 297rwkw with standard fuel pump and a/f meters. I could not believe my eyes nor could my tuner. I did however put 550cc injectors on.

The power curve is just senstational; and the car pulls like a freight train. It is very progressive and goes all the way to 8000rpm.

I'm so pleased with the results that I will get used to the power first and then add a bigger fuel pump and a/f meters later.

I will post up pictures of the power curve very shortly.

Here is the dyno graph for Antz car. I took a pic of them yesterday. The dyno reads 10% and reads 360rwhp = 396rwhp taking into consideration10% loss. This works out to just under 300rwkW and Im sure if we were to run the car on a calibrated dyno that it would read 300rwkW.

    • @soviet_merlin Thanks mate!  Nothing too major but will hold me up for a while. I've got lymphomas to get taken off the back of my neck and the middle of my spine which always conjures scary thoughts!  It sounds worse than it is. Yeah great, conjuring more rabbit hole deepening , just what I need! 🤣
    • I'd argue the F50 kit I got is very good value. For ~2k I got the calipers (refurbed condition), adapters, pads, brake lines, rotors, and top hats. I think you'd be pretty hard to get Evo/GTR/350z brembos + the additional hardware for similar money. Used market for a pair of front calipers alone I've seen tend to run anywhere from $1500-2000 depending on condition.    That said, something like a GTR or 350z brembo is a lot easier to adapt to the Silvia.
    • Is there a significant price difference between the Evo/gtr/350z brembos vs the F50? Looks amazing.
    • I was actually being a tightarse at the time LOL... My OCD is tickling me into running a 2nd 8AN Teflon hose all the way down and removing the 2x OEM hardlines. My other side of my brain is telling me to run 2x hardlines front to back (also acts as a fuel cooler, so win win).
    • As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had some trouble with the Silvia's brakes dragging back in 2023. I managed to sort it out then, but the same problem came back to bite me late last year. Just take a look at the picture – I had a feeling the handbrake was acting up again, and I was right. Anyway, I'd been wanting to upgrade to bigger brakes for a while. Not that the Silvia's brakes were bad, but it was more of a "want" than a "need", you know? It was funny, though – at the time, I couldn't find any Evo Brembos, 350Z Brembos, or GTR Brembos for a decent price (of course, tons of them popped up online after I already bought my kit!). I ended up going with an F50 Brembo kit, which came with adapters, brake lines, 330mm rotors, and top hats. The F50 Brembo caliper was used in a few other cars too, like the FPV. I also decided this was the perfect opportunity to ditch the Silvia's ridiculous rear brakes and that awful handbrake (some of you were definitely right about that!). I picked up some R33 calipers and all the necessary bits – rear drums, backing plates, and new hardware to refurbish the calipers. Of course, it wouldn't be a project without a few hiccups. Turns out the brake master cylinder was playing up and basically (to put it simply) keeping the brakes engaged. I had it overhauled, and after some adjustments, everything was working again. The whole process took a while, as you can imagine. To top it off, the front right wheel bearings were shot and needed replacing too. This is a rare occasion where I'm posting an update while it's all still fresh! These pictures were taken just this afternoon.
