in my experience the 2530's come on about the same as stock turbo's(3500rpm), were as cars wich have GT-RS's kick hard at 5000rpm.

What do you mean by "come on"? A stock GTR seems to make 1kg/cm boost by about 3300RPM under load. There is no way 2530s will do that.

All the ones I've seen (I'm not saying it can't get better) make 1 bar at just under 4500RPM.

Here is the dyno graph for Antz car. I took a pic of them yesterday. The dyno reads 10% and reads 360rwhp = 396rwhp taking into consideration10% loss. This works out to just under 300rwkW and Im sure if we were to run the car on a calibrated dyno that it would read 300rwkW.

that is a great result mate. 2530s on a GTR is a nice combo.

I'm not to sure on this "their dyno is low so I ad 10, divide by two, plus my age, times 11 equals the true figure" business though. to me that graph says 360hp. if their dyno is not correctly calibrated then they should get it fixed and you should probably take the car somewhere that has acurate, operating equipment. otherwise you are just speculating so what's the point of having it dyno'd for a power figure in the first place?

to me that graph says 360hp.

LOL, come in your car and race and see if its not 400rwhp. This dyno reads 10% low and has been verified over and over and if anything the dyno reads slightly lower than 10%. We don't really give two shits what it reads in the end because we're not there for the dyno, we're there for Matt Spry which is an expert tuner. If we want to see the power, we'll take it to another dyno that is accurate or hell one that reads higher than normal...then you'll believe the car makes 500rwhp with n1 and standard fuel pump just cause the dyno said so.

otherwise you are just speculating so what's the point of having it dyno'd for a power figure in the first place?

Speculating? Read above, we're not speculating but at the worst, misestimating by 2-3 % either way. Point of having it dyno'd for a power figure? LOL...it wasnt to get a power figure....it was to tune the car with the recent addition of N1 turbos. And anyway, it is a trialled and proven combination: N1 turbos make 300rwkW and thats not 360rwhp.

In my experience, no, they don't.  A few facts, we get 1 bar out of the 2530's at under 4,000 rpm on the RB26.  The GTRS moving parts (compressor, shaft and turbine) weigh 25% more than the 2530 moving parts.  So there is simply no way that they can be as responsive, given all else being equal.

This experience is not unique, the 2 fastest GTR's at Tsukuba again this year where both running 2530's.  If the GTRS's where as responsive and made more power, I am sure the unlimited budgets would have funded them.

:)

Before my engined failed, I was getting the same boost almost 1,000 revs higher with GT-RS terbs, so even with "tweaking" the cam timing, it just won't be possible to get the same response out of the larger terbs as SK says.

I'm believe with the head work, cams and internals that I've had done to support high RPMs that I will be able to reap the benefits that these terbs should offer over the 2530s. Will need to wait until I get the motor rebuilt ( again ;) ) to quantify the benefits (if any).

Ant - nice work mate, great that the stock AFM's and pump managed that much!

that is the way a graph should look

Sorry mate did not get a print out of the boost curve, all I could tell you is that we managed to get that power @ 17.75pds which sounds about right to me.

Ant...do you have a graph with a boost curve?

Sorry mate did not get print out of the boost curve, all I could tell you is that we made that power at 17.75pds. It was enough to blow the intercooler piping off as well.

that is a great result mate. 2530s on a GTR is a nice combo.

No need to fuss about this, as I will do a power run on Chiptorques dyno which will give another result all together. I know that all dyno's read differently to one another but as far as I'm aware I am adamant that the power figure is closer to 300rwkw than anything else.

The power curve seems a bit "peakier" with full power a bit later in the rev range than I would have expected with 2530s.

The link below is what I achieved with what should be laggier GT-RS terbs. Note that there had been minimal setup of cam timing and boost was a moderate 17 psi or so.

Nice going Gav, 473hp is very nice indeed. GT-RS turbs are laggier though.

Things to note, is that my turbos are not 2530s and in fact they are not even ball-bearing, hence the spool up delivery is certainly not as instant as bb turbochargers.

Even my bros. gets ahead of me in the lower rev range and he has an FJ20 (na block) with a GT30R!

Ahh.... sorry Antz, that's what happens when I don't read the thread correctly!

Hope to have some reliable mid 550rwhp after the next rebuild and with a bit of work should be able to bring on the boost a bit sooner and eliminate the terb shuffle (although it does get other driver's attention when it sounds like a train is approaching them!)

    • Hi, wondering if the HKS bar and water reservoir still available? Thanks
    • What an awesome idea to fit the facelift Lamborghini Diablo headlights. They are a perfect fit!
    • An update regarding the registration with the DVLA I sent off the paperwork the day after I collected the car from the port, two weeks later it was all returned with a letter explaining they have rejected the application. This was because the cheque was £20 short for the road tax (I used a price list I found online). Nevermind it is what it is, it was sent back to them the following day with a new cheque. Fast forward another 2 weeks or so, I called them for an update to be told it had been rejected. Yesterday (16th September) I received the documents back along with another letter, this time it was because I didn't put an X in one box on the V750 (personalised number plate certificate), which declared that I had the rights to the personalised number plate. Why this wasn't mentioned in the first rejection letter, I don't know, but it could have saved this headache. The documents were sent back today, so fingers crossed third times a charm and it'll FINALLY be registered on the road just in time for the bad weather (woohoo!) To cheer myself up I lowered the front 25mm, was sick of seeing it sit like a monster truck. No idea how much clearance I'll have getting on and off the driveway, I'll worry about that when I can actually drive it
    • You're going to miss not worrying about rust in the strut towers like the Skyline shitboxes out there
    • A few little updates that weren't filmed due to not taking long to do or not interesting enough for their own video. My new K&N Air Filter arrived, I went with an RU-4180 which matched the dimensions of the universal cone filter the car originally had.  The battery had gone flat, while that was charging I tidied up the spaghetti wiring at the bulk head and down the sides of the engine Next job was to swap the stereo The Kenwood harness had the female ISO plugs cut off and the male ISO plugs cut off the adaptor loom and joined with bullet connectors. I ordered in a repair loom through work and re-did it all. New Kenwood unit installed (Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth, Reverse Camera) The bonnet/hood gas struts have been poor since collecting the car. I couldn't find any suitable replacements locally so took a chance on a pair from AliExpress.  The originals don't use a retaining clip to secure the cup onto the ball fixture, would explain why I struggled for 10-15mins trying to pry off the cups. The ball fixtures unscrew using a 12mm spanner, new ones are the same size. Sadly no photo of them fitted, you're not missing much lol The dished Momo steering wheel got replaced with my Momo Tuner, turns out I ordered counter sunk bolts for the horn trim ring (like they normally are for the steering wheel) instead of allen cap (flat seat)  A terrible photo of a Quaife style gear shift knob I've had stashed in my tool box for many years after purchasing the incorrect thread size (I can see a pattern emerging with ordering incorrect parts...) Also threw in a cup holder and a (empty) Boss Coffee can, because why not
