Well you wont have to worry your pretty selves about me anymore this will be the last post you will see from me on the qld forum. Too many Keyboard heros have inverse opinion of their self importance for my liking and I know of a few others with this opinion in fact at my 1st or 2nd meet up I was told this is the situation on this forum but had to see for myself. But to be fair I've met some very decent and helpful people on this forum and am glad that I have, its the usual story the few ruin it for the many.

Looks like it was a good day!

Spewing I couldnt make it either, car is running but waiting on a few other goodies so I can represent the old school 31's in style hehe

Just out of interest, how long until the next dyno day, im hoping mine should be done in a month and ready for a dyno battle.

damn.. that's very impressive... any idea on mods?

its a nice figure yes, but at a guess, i would say stock car with n1 turbos and 1.2 bar.

i wish i could have come along and meet more sau guys up here in qld, but got caught up.

im sure i'll see alot more of you lot when my new car lands.

good pics.

Thanks to all who organised the day it was great. Thanks to Mercury MS for the day as well, i didnt realise they had such a good setup! Good power from Dirk's almost stoke GTR!! I think Martin's 33 will pick up alot of power when he puts engine management back on and puts in a little boost. Dave's r33 Gtst sounds like its got a hell of a lot left in it if it was only boosting to 14psi!!

Yes '32 VSP' is my Blue GTR. It has travelled 3,500kms since the rebuild and its running 1.2bar with n1's. It has all the supporting gear to support about 20psi? but im not going to push it, thats HEAPS of power for what i use it for.......for now  . Maybe when the engine has bed'ed in some more i will push it?

If only it had got to 260awkw!! 259.2awkw is sooooooo close

Cheers,

Francisco

comeon man, wind it up to 1.4 at least. u will get borred with only 1.2bar on n1's push it a litte more. 300awkw @ 1.4bar would be good to see.

im with Melv, push it a little more :)...although, I "pushed it a little more" at the track on wednesday 1.3bar and 450rwhp was the end of my bottom end though.....on the other hand I have a 25 and you have a 26, so I assume you can handle a little more. Find out.

Either way, nice cars and good results.

Yeah i think i will push it a little latter on, 1.3-1.4 should be achievable i would have thought....if i only run it down the quater etc.

it has forggies (arais), ACL race bearings, cometic metal HG 1.6mm, 750cc's, but only shot peened rods(weak link), all fully balanced etc.

Also the head is standard, but new/reco'ed head, not sure if that makes any difference to the amount of boost i can run??

i think it can handle it, but i dont want to blow it up!! cant afford another rebuild for a long time!! Matties tune is spot on from what i am told, and before i wind the boost up i will be changing the exhaust to a 3.5 system, as my current system has a cat and 2 x mufflers. $$ are a problem for a while though!

    • Also, a tip for young players  Check the dates on new tyres before they fit them, I always ask this question at the tyre shop, as they have tried to put "new" tyres on one of my cars a few years ago, but the build date was about 3 years old
    • Yeah - 4 or 5 years is the limit for decent tyres. Pedestrian grade tyres with 400 TW ratings start out hard and don't start to suffer until they are somewhat older again. But the stickier decent stuff? Nup. My current ADO9s are < 2 yrs old, 17000km in, only have about the minimum 2mm of tread depth left, and they are.....not what they used to be. They are clearly much harder now than when new. Whether that is heat cycles (unlikely, for a road tyre), different compound between top and bottom of tread, or actually aging out (in less than 2 years!!!) is not really able to be discerned. But I'd credit actual aging as being at least part of the cause. I've got an old pair of ~50% worn AD08Rs in the shed that I really need to get rid of. They started feeling waaaay too hard to put back on the car after a couple of years sitting there.
    • Personally I wouldn't put tyres over 4 or 5 years old on any of my own cars. Once they go hard the grip characteristics completely change. As per most things it only matters in an accident and that's when you most want them to do their job!
    • I'm replacing the front tyres on the E39 tomorrow because one of them has a few gouges out of it. There is so much tread still on them but they're also 9 years old and the rubber is super hard.  This falls within the guidelines of 10 years old that I've read which surprises me given their condition.  I'm curious about whether you guys care about tyre age or just judge the tyre based on condition? How old would you consider too old?
    • What starts as a scratch, becomes a flesh wound, then quadruple amputation. Jus' sayin'. Crush resistant gloves (The ones with the rubber strips down the back of the hand and fingers) might not be a bad idea after all!
