danieltangtc
Hi there guys... I am able to get a HKS GT2510 with HKS pipe for dirt cheap.... As it is cheap, Im thinking of saving money and just putting it in my r33 gtst instead of saving money for a bigger turbo... Will this turbo give me very good low down torque? I mean like a very good 0-100 timing due to the fast initial acceleration? The turbo comes with a MINES ecu for r33...tell me ehat do you guys think. Also, will this turbo restrict me in anyway...??? How does this turbo compare to my rock stock r33 turbo??? Thanks a lot guys!!! krzysiu
This turbo will not give u much. DOnt know if its even a significant upgrade over a stock turbo... BHDave
A mates sr20 is pushing out 219rwkw with a 2510 on about 18psi. You should be able to manage something similar. This is about the limit of the 2510. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/70584-need-help-with-turbo/#findComment-1302988 Share on other sites
paulr33
i think on the rb25 it will choke and wont be much of an upgrade. the stocker gtst turbo is a gt25 unit already im pretty sure. the 2510 has a 0.64 housing, which is pretty similar to the stock turbo housing. there have been guys running these twin combo on rb26, single on sr20 or ca18 but not on rb25. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...t=a%2Fr+housing shows it on an rb20 and it lacks top end, so it would only choke more on an rb25 and kill your top end. that being said what is your current 0 to 100? the stocker turbo is awesome for great 0 to 100 as theres jack all lag, you should be boost well before 3000rpm. if you wanna bump up the 0 too 100 and still have stock ecu, change to powerfc will give you a good upgrade Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/70584-need-help-with-turbo/#findComment-1303012 Share on other sites
danieltangtc
Thanks for your reply paulr33, My 0-100 timing is about a good 1.03 seconds slower than yours. Out mods are about the same...except u got a powerFC :aroused: Im surprised how a powerFC can make such a big difference...thats really cool....was tuning the powerFC a bitch though (like how much did it cost?)?? I still dont understand how a car with a AVCR and SAFCII..........compares with a PowerFC with a powerFC boost comtroller??? Are these 2 setups the same/similar??? Which one is better (cost wise, tuning wise, ease of use)?? Cheers Dan And thanks to all who have replied!!! discopotato03
In basic terms the HKS GT2510 uses the same compressor as their GT2530 (63 trim 60mm) and the same turbine as Garretts base BB GT28R . Its not really a performance turbine as such , more of a standard high response type thing aimed at OEM apps .There are better things out there for RB25's . danieltangtc
I know this is out of the topic.....but can someone explain to me how a car with a AVCR with boost control and SAFCII..........compares with another car with a PowerFC and powerFC boost comtroller??? Are these 2 setups the same/similar??? Which one is better (cost wise, tuning wise, ease of use)?? NZM.031
the power fc is a full engine comp....u can tune every aspect of the car through the ecu...and monitor just about everything. the boost controller for the power fc, is basically an avc-r without the screen. the power fc controls the boost. a safc is an airflow converter and is used to tune the air/fuel mixtures by telling the original ecu how much air the engine is getting at so many revs at such n such throttle positon and modifying it through the unit. both perform the same jobs, just with the power fc you have control over everything...but its more expensive and so is tuning. the safc can be tuned with just an air/fuel ratio meter. cheers Linton Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/70584-need-help-with-turbo/#findComment-1303350 Share on other sites
paulr33
what linton said the powerfc is a big increase over stock ecu even with basic mods, no boost cuts, no speed limiter, tunable, comes with hand controller, easily upgradeable and tuneable when you add parts. cost me $0 to fit it (myself) and $350 for a tune. even without a tune, running the stock maps you get more power over the stock ecu and the you dont get that big power jump at 5000rpm, thats altered with the powerfc and you just have a constanst curve Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/70584-need-help-with-turbo/#findComment-1303415 Share on other sites
