Merli,

I'm not chasing extreme horsepower, just 450rwhp, I just want my engine back to look better than the GTS-t design and maximise the airflow. The extra few degrees of inlet temp will make a difference to how far you can advance the timing, therefore limiting the power, but as you said unless your after big horsepower then it's probably not worth worrying about.

I definately will not do cut and shut jobs on my car, but my friend was very happy with his new plenum design and power output, and it does make the engine bay look significantly tidier. Have you any experience with some of the custom plenums around, I'm not sure as to there airflow properties,i.e. is is turbulant. The custom jobs are definately cheaper but they don't spend the time on reasearching there designs like the Jap brands.

What plenum do you have, and are you running a larger throttle body?

450rwhp is extreme in RB25DET terms. While not a lot in the whole "engine world", it's further than 95% of RB25DET owners will want to take their engines.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with custom plenums, and while it's true that they wouldn't have as much R&D put into them as the Japanese brands, they are cheaper, and more accessible to those people you mentioned before with a limited budget.

I have a GReddy plenum with Q45/VH45 90mm Throttle Body, and I agree that it completely transforms the look of the engine bay :D

Merli,

That looks awesome, what mine is starting to look like. The infiniti throttle body is still hard to find so I had mine custom made, but I believe the Infiniti will be available under the 15year rule next year, therefore we will see a whole host of 4.5 litre turbocharged V8's around, that will be scary.

I found the best benefit of the larger plenum was the increase in mid-range torque, and that the power doesn't drop off at high revs, did you notice the same?
