Hey

can someone help me,

I was pulling my inlet manifold off last night and got everything undone except for the 2 rear bolts on the underside of the top of the inlet manifold.

Is there any tricks to undo these, as I can't get a spanner in.

I got the front bolts undone by using 3 extensions on a ratchet and getting to it from underneath the car, but the angle / and access is stopping me from doing this to the last 2 bolts.

My other option is to just remove the lower half of the inlet manifold as well but this is only going to be a last resort as I don't want to have to drop the water from the radiator.

If someone has had the experience of removing one of these before I would really appreciate some advice.

Thanks

there are 2 ways of getting to them.

from underneath with one extension (about 5 cms long)

The other option is take the rocker cover off and then you should be able to get a spanner onto them. You should be able to get a spanner onto the last one even without taking the rocker cover off but you have to approach it from the side that the firewall is on.

See how you go

I got ****ed around by those bolts just last weekend so let me tell you all about it.

You need a thin socket (can't remember if they are 10 or 12mm) the kind that fits on a 1/4 or 3/8 inch drive. Your ordinary socket with half inch drive will not fit in there. Of course you need an extension bar as well. I think I used ones about 10 cm long.

I was standing outside the car and reaching down.

For the back one, when it was loose the ratchet didn't work. Getting it out was ok, just use the socket and bar with your fingers but getting it back in required someone to ratchet from underneath while someone held the bar, to make the ratchet work, from the top.
