Duncan
hahha thanks guys. Yeah it is the other car, and the guys have been doing well, they are running in the top 30 atm. Prologue: Only a short day, but off to a good start. Qualified 29th Photos: Results: http://www.targa.org.au/Targa_2005/Primary...gue_periodE.php Day 1: 32nd, 2:12 off the pace, and the Whites are leading in a 34 N1. We had a heap of trouble in one stage including getting held up by a rescue car so things should be better tommorow. Pics: ....damn dialup Results: http://www.targa.org.au/Targa_2005/Primary..._final_leg1.php Day 2: Everything went really well except for that little white post....but no damage done. Results are not posted yet but things are still going well Photos: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/71001-team-raceworx-do-targa-tas/#findComment-1324597 Share on other sites

Duncan
OK I've finally caught up with the real world again. It was a great week all up. In the end the boys ran as high as 28th before finishing 37th outright and 3rd in class. Great, tidy, safe driving and navigating got them to the end when many other great drivers didn't make it. Considering Targa is over 6 days, 2000klm and 42 racing stages for 400klm, we survived really well. We had a rear suspension failure on the first day which required some bodgy welding to get us back on track (thanks to Perth Fabrications and Bob Jane Hobart for their help!). Second day was trouble free apart from needing a new oil pressure sender (and Mark's subsequent heart attack when oil pressure hit 0), but third day saw us loose a rear wheel, fortunately on a transport stage (2 min penalty and a busted wheel stud). From there the fourth day was also trouble free after our second alignment at Bob Jane, but by the fifth day the rear suspension issues returned leaving us with a *really* loose rear end, it was all over the place....in the end we had to limp home loosing 10 places on the last day. Funiest of all, the clutch packs had given way by the last stage due to running 50% front torque for 6 days straight on an old transfer case....so Mark though it would be fun to do a bit of a burn out after the last timing point. BANG there goes a driveshaft, and the boys had to push the car over the finish line Pic courtesy of a tassie SAUer Seems like they were just one bolt away from DNF most of the day on Sunday but for once our luck held out. We were indeed the lucky ones, in the GTR field there were 2x R34s which both made it home (1st and 9th), 2x R33s both made it home too. For 32s though, 7 started and only 2 made it across the line after carnage on the last day....this pic says it all: Our pics are here: Prologue: http://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/targa/0504...rga0540261.html Day 1: http://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/targa/0504...rga0540271.html Day 2: http://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/targa/0504...rga0540281.html Day 4: still to come. We also have some video but can't post it until the weekend. Our thanks go to our supports who got us there and through the event in 1 piece: Medalist tools Hills Motorsport Rated R Designs Powerplay Imports Noltec Suspension Unifilter Coconet Technology Just Jap And, in the name of planning ahead, we have put in 2 entries for next year. Mark and Scott are taking the black car back again, and Kel and I are teaming up in the yellow car....should be great Anyone who is interested in 6 days of cars, tassie roads and working on cars all night give us a shout, we will need a couple of crew to help out Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/71001-team-raceworx-do-targa-tas/#findComment-1331585 Share on other sites
benm
So what sort of spare parts did you take? Sounds like a week of high stress and grubby hands Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/71001-team-raceworx-do-targa-tas/#findComment-1331611 Share on other sites
Duncan
hahah no not at all for us....we carried 0 spares just oil and fluids really. But Just Jap were a great help, they had a few spares, and a whole GTR as a spare car.....man did that car loose some bits over the weekend....it is amazing it made it back to the ferry On the other hand some guys had a hge weekend of work...like the evo that punched a telegraph pole square in the centre of the bonnet...imagine trying to get evo bar, bonner, headlights, cooler, radiator, fan, and panel beating in Tassie between 10.30 and 6.30 which is the only available service time. Others did full engine swaps, one of the guys we were talking to did new head gaskets in their XA falcon. And of course the Whites had the car on the hoist all night on Saturday. Not sure if was a new engine like last year but it was up there for hours. Kel
Duncan has convieniently forgotten to mention that it's me who'll be driving next year after the great (and drunken) Rock, Paper, Scissors Duel at the celebration dinner on Sunday night! I'm still recovering but it's an amazing event, and well worth a look in. Kel
Commiserations also to the Skylines that didn't make it to the finish- it was great to see the Nissans out in force, but a shame not all of them had such a good end.
