R33 Turbo?

hi there im going to put a R33 turbo on my R32 are all the R33 turbos the same like series 1 and 2 or even an R34 turbo? or is one better then the other? any advise would be good

Series 1 turbos have steel compressor blades

Series 2 and R34 turbos have a nylon impeller

Regardless of this, theyre all still equiped with a ceramic exhaust wheel which are the turbos' weakest point

whistla : sorry, thats not true, my s2 tub has steel impeller ... and s1, 2, and r34 gtt all have nylon exh wheels ...

I dont think you're right there - the r33's (s1 and 2) had ceramic exhaust wheels i'm pretty sure. R34 i dont know about.

I would have thought when the turbo was glowing if that was the case, the compressor wheel would melt off if it was nylon as well.. but it doesn't.

I don't know what this nylon business is, I've had 2x RB25 turbos (one v3 and one v4) and neither has it .. and the V4 was supposedly S2, whereas the v3 supposedly s1 and no difference to my eyes. The rear was what looked to be ceramic, and the front steel.

All that I have seen to look different is the R34 ones.. show me a picture of a S2 with a version number and i will believe it.

When i replaced the turbo from my '98 Series 2 R33, i took the compressor housing off and literally BENT the compressor fins.

They’re hard, durable fins that bend back into place…were not talking about a great deal of movement, but enough to realize it isn’t steel.

Then took it to Kyp at ATP for a gander, and he assured me it was nylon, and then HE bent the fin in front of me for sh|ts and giggles
