well.... on my short sabbatical from GT4, I’ve been playing Farcry and well what can i say......awesome. Being a massive CS & HL fan for years and having grown up playing the doom series... i gotta say that for an FPS, this has blown me away.

I gotta admit that well having finished all the dooms (including 3) as well as HL & HL2 on difficult settings(and countless other FPS like MOH etc).... well i'm kinda struggling pretty badly even on medium setting for Farcry. Buts its so addictive.

The grafix simply put HL2 and Doom3 to shame, and the rambo/james bond (tropical island jungle) atmosphere is brilliant.

My main problem is being a CS player at hart, that i storm into base camps with grenades and a MP-4, but i'm sure that a bit of finesse would get me further....

is anyone else playing this...... and what are your thoughts......& well tactics.

I loved playing FarCry. It had me stopping and just gawking at the amazing realism of the outdoor levels. Yes the AI is super tuff eh ?

Tip: Use the binoculars - lots, I mean all the time. They'll show enemies on your radar from a loong distance. Target the baddies with your binoculars on full zoom, keyboard switch to the M4 (don't move the mouse !), fire a short burst, back to the binoculars & repeat. You can take out enemies this way from beyond the M4's effective range & they have no idea of your location

I can't wait for more CryEngine games, I also reckon it's light years beyond other PC game engines.

Have fun !

far cry is all about being stealthy and silent. If they cant see you but more especially if they cant hear you, your all good.

Have you ever used that gun with the silencer ?

I have taken out entire groups of guys without them even firing a shot at me cos they never knew where i was.

finished that game....aggges ago on pc.....

my tactic wen vsing crowe as he is in the helicopter is after the bomb detonates....jump off the boat, swim to the shore, there will be a palm tree....just stay behind it and shoot at the helicopter from there...i dont know if its a glitch or not, but it sure made it easier on me...cos the boat was sinking, could never defeat the helicopter like that

    • Hey guys, Just thought it might be of interest to owners of the RB25 det NEO motor, that awesomeness Nitto are in the late process to produce an engine gasket kit by end of Jan 25.  I think obviously there will be an 25det kit too. cheers, Ian

    • Shortly after I do the usual full exhaust/ fmic/fuel pump/ R33 turbo and still get flogged at the lights by i30Ns

    • Bumping this thread yet again, has anyone ever tried putting yet another vacuum regulating valve on the hose that goes between the turbo inlet? Something local owners have mentioned is the Radium breather pipes de-restrict the valve cover but it actually produces an undesirable outcome in practice, way too much air is sucked out of the crankcase and a ton of oil comes with it as well. As far as I can tell the PCV diaphragm in these modern euro wet sump performance engines is active during boost as well, there's just a check valve to block boost from entering the valve cover and crankcase as there's no inherent check valve function in these diaphragm-type valves. Hopefully I'll be able to try some of this out soon. The Volvo XC90 4.4 V8 has a nice external version of these things.
