Electrical Problems

Hey guys, When i press the break on my car my driving lights, tail lights and dash lights come on..

If it helps, when the key is in the ignition, and i hit the breaks it makes a beep sound as if the lights are on (because they are) even without the car started.

If you had this problem, or know someone who has, please let me know how you fixed it.

check all the wiring mate.. have u recently installed stereo, gauges or something of the sort?!?

Sounds like you have a really bad earth. Somewhere in your electricals when you put the brakes on the power is finding another path back through to other car parts. This would mean that your brake lights will also be dimmer than usual.

To fix it? Try looking at your fuses first? Then look at where your loom, lights, etc... are earthed to the car. This is the most common cause, where the lights aren't earth correctly and therefore earth via other bits.

well, i changed the rear right tail light the other day, and its done it ever since.. i cant work it out, i think i'll have to check it out when i have some time!

Found the problem,

dissconected my light i replaced, and it was fixed... looks like there is a difference between the harrneses, might of been out of a series 1 or something.. or series 2 insted of the 1.5

Changed it. and its fixed!!

Uh guys, wen its un plugged the problem is fixed, and when all the lights are in bar one the problems fixed, yet when the harness is full of lights the problem is there again?? any ideas on whats next...?

Thanks again. Ps. When i break the lights do come on brighter, so its not as if its not safe or anything its just damn annoying!

Dayne, I have seen this problem quite a bit..... Pull out all the globes and check for a broken filament. Sometimes you get what is called a crossfeed - this is when a broken brake filament sends power back up the parker circuit.
