a few of my friends have 86's and love them but id never trade my cefiro in for a 86,

its easier to get more power out of a cefiro then a sprinter.

youd have to do a engine swap (20 valve, sr20) or a turbo conversion to get the 86 really going,

it sounds like youd be interested in drifting from your choice of car.

in general the sprinter would be better on a tighter track with its lower weight while the cefiro would be better on a more open track with more power.

cefiro has power options and power steering over the sprinter plus 4 door convenience..

sprinter is cheaper initially, in parts and petrol, if you want a drifter on a budget go the sprinter, otherwise head for the cefiro.

just dont rush into buying either one till your certain, both are fun cars, decide what you want out of a car and go from there.

1) a trueno would be the worst investment anyone could ever make, for one thing, the cars are OLD, with a capitol O as opposed to a little o, they are skyrocketing in prcie as they are and one day people are going to snap out of this quasmic spasmatism that they are in or the planets will align right and people will say "hey, just because this car is in a popular cartoon doesn't mean it's fast or attractive NOR worth6K plus"!

seriously, i wouldn't fork out $20 for a piece of catcrap, just because i saw catcrap on a tvshow!

to get any power out of a sprinter it is essentail you change to a 4ag, which contrary to popular belief DO NOT COME in aussie sprinters, so there's an engine conversion you gotta bother with,

however, you attration to sprinters and cefiros has told me one thing,

HALIFAX LIKES TO DRIFT.

here's why the ae86 is popular as a drift car,

the positioning of the rear axle, note how a large portion of the car hangs behind it, making sido action a lot more easy to attain,

but alas, look at the cefiro / laurel, they have a boot that can rival a 64 impala, and it all hangs behind the rear axle, unlike the S13 chassis, physically this makes the car more hungry to be driven sideways, and to top it off, the cefiro has the legendary RB series power plant, which has a lot of available modification parts, also, a vast majority of the parts are interchangeable with S13 and R32, such as suspension...

4 doors get more whores, anybody can tell you that.

plus, for wank factor, i've owned a very pretty N13 pulsar, it was nice lookin, but it didnt turn heads, cos it was old and crappy, let's face facts,

however, people stop, stare, point, and jaws drop at the mighty J-beast that is my majestic cefiro, simply cos they've ever seen it before and have no idea what the hell to think...

so, that's WHY you should buy a cefiro,

and here's me convicing you to buy a ceifro...

"buy a cefiro, you won't look back. and your friend will envy you for hours."

Pretty much agree with Mr Eps, other than the whole impala bit...

If we go for a drive, we put my car in his boot, and his little mazda 323 in the glove box. An Impalas boot is HUGE!!! And they cant drift, trust me on that! (impalas that is)

But yeah, honistly, if you want a little crapbox to drift just get an AE82, heaps cheaper, less attention (to the point where we saw a turboed one drifting in the wet get let off, and the bonnet wasnt even lifted as the cops didnt hear the turbo) **note, cops also checked rear tyres of above mentioned mazda, found flat spots on them, saw spare rims in the car, and asked had we been doing burn outs...**

Anyway, 10 points for cefiro! 1 point for AE82, 0000 points for AE86!

People always bag on the s13 silvias looks, and never take them seriously.. there is one silvia that deserves some respect, though, and they are pretty rare, and undervalued because of the other 90% of the silvia population giving them a bad reputation.

Buy an 92-94 model S13 Silvia K's, (thats the one with the SR20DET) debadge, dewing, lower it on to some nice 17" wheels and it will look very, very cool. Any modification you do to this nutbag of a car will blow your socks off because it responds to mods better than any RB series engine (ala gts-t, ceffy, etc). It will out accelerate the gts-t or ceffy equivalant in stock form, and mod for mod.

DONT put a body kit on it, theres not a single body kit for the s13 that looks good, just take the wing off and drop that bitch!

I've owned a Pulsar Gtir, I now own a 32 gtr, .. man if you can source a 92+ Silvia K's in manual, in good condition, your laughing. They really are a good car.

The best thing about it, was that everyone underestimated it.

Heres Why: 95% of the s13's on the road are the old CA18DE or CA18DETs (88-91) or an SR20DE.. not exactly worthy of a performance reputation.

The late model K's has the SR20DET, bigger brakes, firmer suspension, intercooler, all in a very good package. Basically its a 180sx with a silvia body and usually sells for about $3k less than a 180. The stock wings on both these cars look gay gay gay and must be removed immediately.

The trick is finding one, or having a mind thats open enough to consider them.

resin- yeh must be the 4 doors

gtr32- drift/daily

mr eps- u put forward a good argument just for the record id by a levin/sprinter i agree truenos arent worth it, and know that obviously sprinters dont come stock with the 4age in aus although i would put a 20 valve in it. i also dont want it for the takumi image ive always loved the look of them and the potential that they have when money is put into them but u make another good point about parts being interchangeble with s13 /r32 therefore making it easier to get parts and hopefully a bit cheaper. o and about the whole friends envying it i know of two ppl that have them already. very helpful mr eps!!!

pentae- umm sorry mate not interested in the s13's

All well and good... But they look like arse and your talking in the RB Sedan section, SAU gives no duck for SR20!

hahahaha...this shi!t is so funny...a person seeking opinion is now having to listen to RB vs SR battle...go SR20 :):P they will shyt on rb20 but sound like shyt too :P i've had both...and loved both...like the sound of the RB but the feel of the SR...now im liking the feel of rb26 in the ceff.....:P :P :P:D:)

hey halifax, not saying YOU are buying a sprinter cos of initial D, but people are selling their sprinters cos of it, at around about 8-10K over here in WA for one in good stock nick,

people would usually ask 2-3 grand for a near 20 year old piece of automobile, but cos of the cartoon, they are selling them for high prices,

only thing is... is people are buying them happily at this price, thus perpetuating the high over priced sales of these cars, it upsets me,

there was a uni professor at this place i went to do some work, he was 40 years old, had a silver levin, cool looking front bar, perfect panels, silver bbs style mesh rims, dark tint, i must say it was a striking looking car, but realistically, you can have a N13 with nice paint and al it's gonna be worth is 6-8K...

this guy had the cheek of asking 30K for it, and you know what? i phoned him 3 weeks later, someone paid him $35K due to a bidding war...

35K for a sprinter, that's brand new car off showroom floor territory

all im saying is they are a bad investment cos you pay thru the nose for them now, but when it comes time when you get sick of them, for all you know they could be worth nothing and you'll have to sell it for peanuts,

cefiros on the other hand have appreciated in value,

you need to diversify your bonds nyukkah!

All well and good... But they look like arse and your talking in the RB Sedan section, SAU gives no duck for SR20! ;)

Watch it buddy or too_much and I will have to crack heds :)

Cef is the pimp over an ae86, but that's why we all bought one, otherwise we'd all buy an 86.

If you asked at toymods I'm sure they'd say an 86, cos that's what they bought.

Just buy whichever you like better :)

PS. my mate has a ae82 - it's front wheel drive, I didn't think there were rear wheel drive ones.. can anyone send me a pic of the rear wheel ones please?

I was looking at getting a 86 before i bought my ceffy. Thought it might be a cheap and fun way to get into drifting, plus i've always had a soft spot for them. But after reseaching them for some time and also test driving one i got turned off big time. There are just too many downsides to owing one. By the time i added up the cost of purchasing a decent 86 with no rust, factored in a rear disc/lsd conversion, engine swap, suspension and fixing all the crap thats broken by now. You now have the money for a nice cefiro with change for mods. And at the end of it, if you still buy an 86, you have to live with the 20yo interior (you will gasp if you haven't seen one before), no air con (very few have it), no power steering, only 2 doors, and prolly more likely to get stolen.

I've got nothing against the 86, i love them. And would of loved to have owned one when they were 10-15 years old. But people that have them say you really have to love them to death to own one. Its like having an extremely high maintenance girlfriend. All your mates are envious and think she's really cool. But really she's a pain in the ass.
