Some time ago now, someone keyed my front guard with a lovely big wavy line, right through the top few layers of paint....

I put off fixing it for a while because I thought that as soon as I got it fixed that it would probably just happen again, so I didn't bother. However, I've got too upset seeing it every day and want to get it sorted out.

What I was wondering was: Has anyone had much experience with small-scale touch-ups?

What paint was best?

Where to get it?

What's the best match for R33 wine red / maroon?

Tips for application?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Simon.

Hi Simon,

Over here in Sunny ole perth our general car store is Marlows and Auto One, the closest colour i could find seemd to be Holden Pheonix Red.... THIS WAS NOT CLOSE THOUGH! i was only using it to touch the underneath of my front bumper due to low ride height, i once used it on my bonnet and instood out real bad but it was the closest i could find.

So now what ihave done is gone to a proper paint store and asked them to make a can up for me. Our paint code is AN0 and i asked them to put it in a spray can for me. Costed $27 and had to buy acrylic clear aswell for $10, so for $37 i got paint matched up, due to it being a spray can it aint the best for real small touch ups, i also got made up elsewhere a small fingernail polish sized bottle of it aswell trouble is that it is the same colour but when you touch up you can always see little blobs which seems to stand out more with orur colour car. I suggest that for things such as small stone chips prob best ignoring them or ask for full respray if bad, however if a long scratch then the spray can did come in good use and didn't match in to bad... very light coats and sprayed from a far distance so the surrounding areas kinda mixed in more.....
