Hey guys..

I just got a mild steel combined front and dump pipe and i was just wondering what you are meant to do about heat shielding. Im about to put it on on the weekend and wondering what to use for a heat shield , if it is necessary at all?

I heard of some thermal tape but yeah just wondering what to do?>

Most people use thermal tape.. Which you wrap around, with a few clamps. That is about $60-$100 from most performance shops.

You can also get it heat treated (HPC), which it is dipped in special heat resistant insulant. You are looking at a couple of hundred dollars for that though.

or you could just leave it "as is" like 95% of people out there with a full exhaust...

There are a few good threads on why and why not back a couple of years ago, and some people's results.

when i got my twin dump pipe from cesracing.com it was an extra $150 to get it ceramic coated, this is great for heat retention and because its on the inside aswell it improves overall flow and also wont change colours like stainless can.

mmm the tape looks realy daggy i reckon!
