EVL R33,

I will be going down on my debut run, but I don't expect that I'll keep up with you. Has anything been done to it yet? What tyres are you running? I'll be taking two set, my fat hard as dried dog-turd 265's and my brand new hopefully sticky 255 TPG's.

I'm sure I won't be able to miss your new car.

Hope to see you there.

Dude,

the R is stock as a rock except for twin plate clutch and full exhaust. I have no idea what times to expect, so I'm not going to make any predictions in regards to times/wins etc.. I have a Power FC Pro with 15psi, cam gears and new panel filter lined up for early in the new year so that should make a bit of difference then....

As far as tyres go I'm running 255's but have no idea of brand... Thankfully now I don't need to worry so much about tyre pressure (gotta love the ATTESSA PRO)...:D

What colour is your car, I'll keep an eye out for ya...

Brett

EVL R33,

I'll have the gun-metal gray R33 GTS-t, I've got red anodised rims, but currently the 265's on the back are silver, so it looks like a drift car. I'm planning on changing wheels once I have a few runs under my belt.

I'm sure even with those mods you should pull a low 13 no probs. Have you sourced cam gears yet, as I'm doing a group buy once we can decide which brand to get.

See'ya:burnout:

I've ordered a set of JUN cam gears. I was looking at HKS but was told by a couple of reputable guys that they have used them and had problems with teeth breaking and wearing out due to them being made of aluminium..

the JUN cams will cost me around $600 (IN and EX) for the RB26, not sure what the single for GTST's will be.. I can talk to the guy I'm getting them off for a group price if you like..

I think I've seen your car before, do you live / hang around south of the river, canning vale area a bit???

Brett

Yeah that sounds like me. I 've just posted about the cam gears in the Performance section, yes the HKS cams are apparently less reliable, made out of cheaper aluminum.

I am trying to get pricing on Toda, OS Giken and Jun cam gears, will likely be buying 5 sets so I'm after a discount on price and freight. If you have a good contact then I'd be happy to hear.

Croydon Racing Development over east is a JUN supplier and they quoted me a good price for RB26's, you can try them but they want cash up front.....

Speedworks here in perth are JUN distributers too and they matched the Croydon price for me so I went through them. If you ring make sure you talk to Glen cause he knows the current pricing of the cam gears.

Brett

The JUN cam gears are full steel, and I'm told use more bolts to hold the adjustment so there is less chance of slippage (HKS apparently do that too)....

They are not as pretty as HKS ones, but I intend of leaving the cover on anyway, I'm just after reliable power increases these days not ricey looks....:D

Brett

hmpf, I'd love to come down again and have a race but I won't.

Not until i

A. Learn to drive/launch properly

B. Get some more mods on my car.

The best I managed to pull was a 14.86 @ 151km/h which is pretty piss poor i think.

I'm running stock boost, I don't get ALL that much wheelspin in 1st.. and 2nd gear only a chirp :D

I've got an average 2.3-2.4 second 60' times so I think that's pretty OK. I'm happy there :)

The first few runs ever was high-15s... i didnt know what i was doing.

Next on the list is a POD filter, and 10psi boost (that bleed valve thing didnt work Troy!)

I agree, Rice=unreliable, I think that HKS should be more concered with the performance than the nice shiny anodised crap. I think HKS use 3 bolts, while Toda use 4.

I'm mainly after a good price with good reliability, not paying extra for the rice factor.

Strich9ine,

Come down anyway, I can fix the boost problem, so you run max boost all night, and how are you going to improve your launches without more practice. It will be my first time so you can have someone to laugh at, stalling the launch etc.

The more the merrier, otherwise it feels like the Holden guys own the place.

See'ya:burnout:

hahah, thanks dude's....

I'm thinkin of giving it a rest till after Xmas (let's see what santa brings me!)

then I'll try it again!

read: bleed valve and POD :)

plus my car's going in for warranty work (read: 5th gear vibration like yours gtst vspec!) so I dont know if it'll be fixed before wed. night :D

we'll see...

14.5 with a power FC??

Thats a fairly poor effort, no effence EVL.

Although I can't talk considering a blew my clutch.........

But my 13.74 is pretty good I think, Love to have a power FC though.

I'm happy with the S-AFC for the time being, untill my wolf 4 :D

Hey Hicks,

My mate said that skylines will tend to go considerably faster when the clutch is just starting to slip, so when you have the new clutch you'll probably be back in the 14's.:shake:

EVL R33,

I'm sure that with decent traction then 13's will be easy, I can't wait to check out your car and give you suggestions on how we could turn it into a 9sec drag car.

First thing we'll do is strip the interior, then we'll.................................... (hours later) and lastly we need to find someone who knows how to drive your car.

Hope there will be a good turnout.
