MODIFIED CAR OWNERS BLAMED FOR PEOPLE GETTING SHOT!! ACA's slander goes to far :(

Recommended Posts

hrmm yer.. I must admit when I was 18 and bought my VS V8 5speed I was often pulled over.

One time I had the police search through the car and ask where my 'stash' was.

He (the arsehole) opened the glovebox, slid his had in behind everything and pushed it out on to the floor.

Soon I turned 19 and lost the P's, no more hassling.

Well once I suppose :(, I was approached in a service station for running a stock wheel on the rear right of the car. The moto officer approched me and said it was illegal to run stock wheels on the back of my car, If i were to run stock wheels I had to have them on the front and the mags on the rear.

I said erm.. I had a flat tyre and its my spare.. Look on the other side.. Its a mag wheel. lol silly man.

:werd: as nice as that would be, face it, its not gonna happen.  they cant go backwards on what they said, then theyll get people up them (then again, whats new?)

iits a good concept but in the end, it wont bring in the ratings.

Hmm true. Dam ratings... What can ya do eh?

a few people have suggested earlier that ACA are in league with the police. i wouldnt buy that for a second, ACA (well, the whole of kerry packers empire) is out for itself. i'd say there's been just as many stories on police corruption, inefectivness and brutality as there has been about hoons..............

I don't see why they wouldn't? You have to convince the public for further powers and action. You can't just go on tv and air your own ad segments "stop the hoons" and pay for that out of police funds (of which there is little, and every dollar has to be accounted for). So there are more intelligent ways to do things these days.

You have to give reasons as to why, and actual examples, faces, and events to convince the public that more should be done. These shows are ready and willing package up that nice and concise format, and a pursuading format that comes right after the news bulletins that a large number of people watch. And they rate. Its cheaper to slip first hand reports, and "where to look for troublespots" to these shows, rather than be seen to be doing it directly. And it costs them nothing, and is probably very effective. There is a police media liason team for a reason.

I'd disagree there. There is not much of that sort of material in the media, and to be seen to do so is often seem as "cop bashing" and bad for public perception - the media gets a major rapping if they **** things up, so often its not worth the rsik.

There is a few tiddles but by then most of it has broken major enough news to be universal. If there was more "open slather" to investigate these things by the media, I think a lot of things would be uncovered.

Then again, you could say that exactly about the car "hoons" with cars obviously worth a lot more than any 20 year old imbicile could legitimately afford. Sure many have parents that support them, and work hard, but its not all of them.

I can spot quite a few people in this thread that are tainting the Skyline community with their attitudes.

Don't go pointing your fingers too quickly, because if you bothered to look past your "pig-fulled rage", fingers are being pointed right back at you.

Congratulations.

do u guys think aca peeps might be reading this and saying to themselves

"hah, we did a good job in stirring shit up, now them 'hoons' (us car enthusiasts)will hate the police all the more....which in turns will mean more ***tarded stories for us to air about these ppl."?

    • They see me rollin' they hatin'....... Took me most of the day to make the necessary mods to the mounts to make them fit the car.  Fortunately I was able to just use the mounts that came with the rotisserie. The rear ones are really secure, the front I feel i might reinforce a bit more as it doesn't seem like enough attachment to the vehicle. I'm sure it's fine but better to be safe than (extremely...) sorry.  I drilled and tapped thread into additional M12 holes to each car mount where it attaches to the rotisserie as an extra fail-safe. Without them the side to side movement is just restricted by the allen head pinch bolts, nothing actually goes though the beam. Does now! I still need to adjust the rotisserie to get the car centred in terms of centre of gravity. If it's too high or too low relative to the rotational centre line of the car, it will be like a turtle and roll onto its back or as it currently sits, I dont think I'd be able to rotate it as it sits as it needs to lift the whole car up as it rotates. Ain't happening... I'm going to be nervous as hell the first time I go to spin it on its side...
    • Oh yes done this when the window started flopping around.  Turns out the guides that run along the rail chanel had crumbed way. Took off the door card and pulled out the window mech, then the window, which you have to pull out through the top. As said unbolt the guide rail and don't spend 30 minutes getting frustrated trying to find a way to slide it out upwards cause that don't frigging work. Drop it down and out through the door hole. All I did to repair it was slice some 10mm clear plastic tube, vertically, then screw it to the guide rail both sides. This tubing rolls inward on both sides and leaves a gap wide enough to hold the window. To finish all I did was lube the plastic tube with olive oil and Bob's your uncle . . . well if he has the operation he can be your Aunt ! !  10 bucks in plastic tube and another 5 minute job done again . . . . YEH BULLSH#T ! My love for Skylines knows no bounds !
    • So was there a solution to this problem? I’m having this issue now.
    • not expensive, just irreplaceable if you don't go sub 60 at wakie in that thing people will start talking
    • I haven't replaced that, but I have had the doors apart on the r32 a couple of times The door skin will be held on by a combination of clips and bolts, just take it slowly and make sure all the sneaky hidden bolts are out Once the skin is off you should be able to pop that piece off pretty easily, looks like there are only 2 bolts holding it on
