don't waste your time with kazaa/winMX or BT - i get the releases on dumps before they even hit newsgroups - then they filter to IRC - then to the P2P apps

if i didn't have access to certain 'sites' i'd definetely use IRC/newsgroups first - although newsgroups do take a while to update...and you need to find a provider that stores the binary files - as far as I know not many ISP's do in AU, try www.newshosting.com
