Didnt you just have your engine rebuilt complete with stroker kit?

okay tell ya what happened.

after 15K of running the engine in.

i spun another bearing.

i think it's due to the pistons being cracked. (shit venoilas)

apparently the venoilas have a design fault and i hope to get some money back on that.

unlike the first time i am really tight on the budget this time.

only able to spend 10K

so that has to be new crank (as my old 1 cracked due to the pistons failure)

new block and labour +turbo rebuild.

i am really close to my budget limit at the monent.

so i want to save money as much as i can.

fair enough. two rebuilds will thin the wallet quite nicely :)

what kind of stroker crank was it?? that's a bit of a bummer dude. can I suggest that 15 000ks is an awful long time to be runing an engine in. the rings should have bedded in after 1000ks... just my opinion though.

just think for the $25 000 you will now have spent you could have bought a tomei crate engine (http://www.tomei-p.co.jp/_2003web-catalogu...compengine.html) or maybe even a Top secret motor... bitchin.

oh well the first 1000kms i didnt even shift above 3K rpm.

after the service i gave the car abit to feel the power but never boosted it past 0.6 barboost.

and after it ran in completely after 15K i was going to tune it with power FC and so on.

BUT no the pistons just had to go. :)

so now i am stuck with a completely dismantled engine with no crank.

so now i am going for a 33GTR engine with ACL pistons and all other goodies.

and a N1 crank :) pretty much a N1 engine except for the block+other goodies

well now back to the topic where can i get a N1 gasket kit

my only other advice is try and find out exactly what caused your problems before you put it all back together. possibly running too rich on the stock (or untuned pfc) ecu and therefore didn't allow the rings to bed in? oil starvation possibly the cause of the spun bearing? light (inaudilble) detonation killed the piston? could be many things.

also, what type of stroker crank was it that broke?

I may be wrong here, but I think what you are looking for is simply a factory Nissan RB26 gasket kit.

Is your new motor being built by the same place as the last one? If so I would be extremely concerned at the fact a brand new engine that according to you wasnt abused, managed to spin a bearing and crack a piston?

Were you running a standard ECU on a rebuilt and stroked RB26?

What sort of oil were you using in the engine before it blew?

Lastly, have you considered fitting a brand new N1 engine rather than building another used motor with an N1 crank?

I know your budget is $10k, but for an additional $2 grand or so you could have a brand new motor from Just Jap :( Just a suggestion, it really depends what you want out of the engine.

if u went that easy on in to start with (less than 3000rpm for 1000kms) then it wouldnt have run in properly anyway

u have to load it up more and more as you cover more ks, with higher and higher rpms..

driving it like a grandma for 1000kms is not going to do any good in terms of running in.

it wasnt stroked it was bored out.

the cylinders were bored out.

anywayz.

yeah i have considered manythings.but the budget is just so bad.

well yeah

maybe it is just a factory nissan item???

how much would that cost ??

I think boring out the engine to 2.8 litres was a mistake too. infact I didn't even know they coud go that far. this time I would sitck with a 2.6. I have no idea how much a brand new nissan crank could cost, but it won't be cheap. as nick suggested perhaps buying a complete N1 engine from just jap for $12K would be an easier way out?

nah already have everything set out at the moment.

got a 33 GTR vpsec block

33GTR crank nitored

ACL pistons

forged conrods

N1 turbos rebuilt

power FC

using my standard head (port and polished)

new clutch

and maybe new fuel pump.

that's what i have in mind at the moment.

and i have actaully squeezed it down to 10K

    • Seemed to be good when Jeff owned it but they did a shit job on my car, probably worth a think before spending 10's of thousands of dollars where they might be cutting corners
    • Starting with issues 1 - 5, we have already run into a problem...!  Issue #4 contained 2x front brake calipers, instead of 1 caliper and 1x steering knuckle. Will have to call DeAgostini on Monday to sort it out. Anyway here's some photos.  Issue #1 is the front bumper, headlights and number plate. Issue #2 is the front wheel (with "We produced with spartan air." text on the centre cap!) and tyre, the front lip spoiler and cylinder head cover with ignition coils under the centre cover... which will never be seen again. Issue #3 is the bonnet and cylinder head. Issue #4 is the front strut, brake disc (with laser etched metal discs) and brake caliper. I stopped here because of the issue with the missing steering knuckle.  Next update will be #5 - #10 in a few weeks.
    • DeAgostini is one of a few companies that release quite large (the largest commonly available size actually) 1/8 scale models in a series of weekly issues over 100 - 110 instalments.  They release different models for different markets and DeAgostini Japan have release the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo last month. I've made two of these 1/8 scale sized cars (one an R35 GT-R from 2012 - 2014, the other I'm just about halfway through, a BNR34 Skyline GT-R from the 2Fast 2Furious movie) so when this R32 was announced there was no way I could ignore it as it's my favourite out of all Nissans.  Each issue costs around $20 so it costs about $2.2K when completed. I suppose it is very expensive for what it is, but the quality and details are really very good, and there are many "gimmicks" like fully functioning exterior and interior lights operated with a remote control, working steering, all doors/bonnet/boot/fuel lid open and close, the side mirrors fold in and it even has a speaker for the engine revving sounds when you turn the lights on.  Each issue comes with a magazine that tells the story of the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo from the first design stages of the BNR32 to Group A homologation and the various racing version that were run in the Japanese Group A and JGTC, and Australian Group A.  So I plan to update the build in this thread 5 issues at a time.  https://deagostini.jp/r32/?srsltid=AfmBOooKjxDc4EUK2rmXqMBPgyHfFJ24s4oEPJBNpnF-lFlsRoW0PE6P
