If it's a CHEAP & NASTY Chinese rip off, you would be wasting your money. You should also check if this turbo comes with a decent warranty, especially if it's off ebay.

I would spend your money on a decent brand name. Garrett turbos (T3 Flange) can be found at great prices, even new. If money is a issue, you could look at a rebuilt or very low km RB25DET Std turbo, which are a good upgrade for a RB20DET. Hope this helps. Cheers.

hang on, 0.42 a/r is friggin tiny. i have one here in my room which is 0.42 ar and its one of the gtr twins. 25psi my ass, more like 8psi. this would be smaller than your stock rb20 im pretty sure?

looks like a cheap Chinese copy.

guys... please actually make sure it is from China before you go and critize - if it is then so be it.

I (and I'm sure others on this forum too) take offence at this... not everything made in China/Asia is dodgy... There are things from asia which are genuinely made and are no more inferior to other products on the market... now when you decide to be stingy and try to save money by being a tight ass by purchasing black market/copy items - then you can expect to get what you pay for.

well fair enough dude, and I understand their point - cos I admit that this stuff is crap

But the point I'm trying to get across is that people want cheap parts but look at copy/non-genuine rubbish - and they come on here and rant etc etc China sell dodgy shit, etc.

Buy the real deal in China, Australia, Japan or US its all the same.

They know its a fake, they know its inferior, yet they buy it...

So to the original poster: Simple, you know its crap, you know its not genuine, save your dosh and buy the real deal.

I hear what your saying and im not having a go at Chinese copies or anything else, im just saying is it worthe the money and has anyone else used one before thats all??? I dont mind spending a bit more on a turbo upgrade (or just replace the stock wheel in mine) and go from there!!!

Eug I think the point was chinese copies of turbos that aren't developed/made in their original country of origin are piece of shit.

I'm sure there are turbos made in china that are legit that are good but we all know what it means when it's a chinese copy.

And if it was a Japanese copy it'd be better quality so I don't think it's all the same in all the countries you listed heh

you know what they say - pay peanuts and you get monkeys (Chinese or otherwise)

I would have thought by the time you factor in the extra time / effort and money to fit this thing up, deal with all the LITTLE problems the crop up along the way, get it tuned and running right - the actual cost of the turbo will be down in the noise

(Even if you do it your self – it's still gonna cost you time, money, skin and blood too probably)

Some of us (the older ones) have been down this path before (more than once usually), take some advice, save your cash – do it once and do it right.

It's simple - if you're looking for a cheap solution - that's what you'll get

Im not after a cheap solution, i know of people that have bought turbo's like these and have had no problems, i was simply asking if anyone here had delt with them at all and what were they like??? If you must know im just going to upgrade my stock RB20 turbo (compressor wheel) and use that, at least i know what i have got and that i can get around 25psi out of it if needed (obviosily not for long periods of time) as a better solution to turbo's for money in book???

Forget whether they are Chiese or not, but they sound like the cheap T3/T4 turbos commonly sold at places such as EBay.

I do believe that these turbos need some modification to the dump pipe to fit as the flanges are different (6 vs 5 bolt). The A/Rs also don't seem to be very efficient.

Have a search around on the forums but you'll find a similar opinions on these turbos - usually do not perform as well as as advertised.

Is this an XS Power turbo?? I have heard that the shafts are not balanced properly and when they get any boost through them they wobble, causing the props to hit the housing??

Generally, the construction of them is supposedly substandard

Ok so my mate got burnt big time as he went and bought one of these off Ebay and paid for it upfront and the guy's saying that there is a 6 week wait, EG: they come straight from China. Any suggestions at all where he might be able to sell it, he paid $700 for it :kick:

How long ago did he buy it? Did your mate get a warranty with it? If not I would still contact the seller & demand some (or all) the money back.

You might not get far, but if this was a recent buy, go & make life hard for this seller the best you can buy reporting him to ebay & ask for advice from them. You might get some compensation from ebay, if it isn't to late.

If you stilll have trouble, I think your mate has lost his money, if he want's to spend more on legal action - that's another option & there is one more other option to, but I won't mention it here because you & others already know what I mean.

No one who knows about turbos will buy it, & it wouldn't be nice to rip anyone else especially after it's happened to your mate.

Hope this Helps

Agreed. I think I saw a thread a while ago saying that a guy put one on his car & the turbo went out with a bang on the Dyno when he got it tuned!!!

Buyers Beware - Don't waste your money on a peice of SHIT
