I need a little help on this one

Attached is a picture of what im lookin at, i want to disconnect the brake line right behind the caliper but i dont wana waste any fluid because i dont have any to top it up and the resivore is only half full.. so i wana do this so i dont waste much. Well you can c in the picture that i have a one way bleeder kit, so im thinking could i put a clamp on the brake line and then undo the line from the back of the caliper and then when im finished painting and stuff just connect it back up and put the oneway bleeder hose on and pump the pedal a few times till the air gets out ? Would tis be the best way to do it so that i dont waste really any fluid ?

Also should i place the end of the brake line up high when i disconnect it so that the fluid wont leak or wont it leak anyway ??

If you clamp the line as close to the end as you can you will only lose a few drops of fluid, don't forget to plug the hole in the caliper.

In all honesty, having pretty painted brakes that may or may not stop your car in an emergency has to be the ultimate in brain dead RICE. Beg borrow or steal the $5 to fill your reservoir and bleed your brakes properly. If you'r in Brisbane come around and i'll give you some!!!

Don't be such a cheap-ass. Your brakes could probably do with a bleed anyway.

Nah its not that im a cheap ass, in fact im the total opposite, like when i needed trans fluid i had to goto 3 different places cos i couldnt find some that was expensive enough ...

I just didnt realy wana have to put it all back together to just drive down and get some brake fluid to only come back to pull it apart again ...

The real issue here is that you will have air in the line when you reconnect it to the caliper.

Bleeding the brakes is the only way to remove the air. It doesn't matter where/if you clamp it or hang it or whatever, you will get air in the line.

Air compresses--> spongy brakes.

Bleed the brakes. :uh-huh:
