Ok my GTR will be here next month, and I will want to increase the performance somewhat.

Basically i'm looking for 120+mph Terminals whilst retaining good driveability.

My plans at this stage are purely bolt on:

Deal with any other issues if & when they arrise;)

1. HKS2530 or similar low mount turbos, although the GT25/30 seems a lot cheaper...?

http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/HPIAB2/prod15.htm

Or can the standard turbos be rebuilt using larger 'steel' wheels with a HiFlow as I've had good results in the past with this?

2. SARD 700cc Injectors

Will these run with Standard ECU?

3. Power FC

Car already has full 3" exhaust and Pod filters, and GTR cooler should suffice.

Will this get me 450+rwHP and 120+mph terminals..?

Any other suggestions? or good places to buy parts?

Cheers

Lindsay

450hp you will be pushing it with that set up, i own a R32 GTR its got HKS2530's,HKS Cams, Sard 700cc injectors, upgraded fuel punp, Trust drag intercooler, Twin 3inch system from turbo's, Link engine management and AVC-R on 20psi i pump out 330kw's

I want top mount twin turbo's for it then the power figure will really rise, the 2530's are limiting the power output but they boost up quickly and smoothly so its a fairly streetable car at the moment

I have seen a write up on the GT2530 turbo's and they say they are pretty much the same as the HKS turbo's apart from the price...

No these will not run with standard ECU. Power FC is really the best option to take regarding the tuning a of a GT-R.

450hp at the wheels is possible with the the GT2530/ HKS 2530's but you will need to run some pretty big boost to get it. An easier to get this power output is to get some nice cams for the RB26 i.e. 276deg.

This will make your car have excellent top end without the need of running big boost i.e. 20psi (over).

Cheer AS

Thx Guys.

It mentions what 'looks like' HKS 272 on the auction sheet!..?

Hopefully it does have the cams fitted :)

The GT25/30's seem a fair price from HPinabox, these are looking like a good option atm.

I do not want to turn it into a 'narrow high powerbanded' drag car, more of a flexible 'MC motorsport' club racer style thing.

So no one would reccomend the rebuilding of the standard turbos or knows anyone that has done this...?

carefull with these turbos as they are not true bolt ons the compressor out and turbine out put are different to the gtr turbos and will require custom piping and bump pipes

550's with safc

Thx Simon.

Not really worth it then, as 550cc injectors are no cheaper than 700cc units and the SAFC is only about $500 cheaper than the Power FC......may as well spend the extra :(

carefull with these turbos

You mean the GT25/30's..?

I am actually leaning towards GT-SS atm....closely followed by 2530s...Hmmm...decisions decisions :)

your right on the money

here a combo i will make 450rwhp(walk in the park) if tuned well

APEXI pfc (avcr is a good boost controller aswell)

320hp garret turbos or HKS 2530 (stay away from the horse power in a box set)

700cc sard injectors

Tomei poncams 260deg 9.15mm lift (or close to)

Tomei adjustable cam wheels (take the time to adjust them)

afms 20/25rb or z32

turbo back exhaust (twin 3" dumps into 3.5" single good place to start)

custom piping to the new from turbos to 80mm afms(3')

this combo is good for a great deal more than what you want but it will give great drivability and future development.

my car running 530rwhp

rich madsons r33 on good fuel have seen run 550rwhp+

and these cars on std internals have been going hard for sometime now with out a single problem.

hope it helps

pete

    • I replaced the whole clutch line with the chase bays braided hose, I think it removes that loop, is it the short hose that comes immediately off the slave or is there a drawing in the manual to find what you’re referring to? It was just re-bled when I upgraded to the nismo slave, old slave worked fine but I thought that might help, didn’t change a thing. It’s like the first half of the pedal is pushing air and then when it finally actuates the master the friction zone is tiny. Makes it practically impossible to launch the car
    • Yep, that was one of the things we learned fast in the past with our MX5. When you drive with the top down, you are effectively standing out in the sun, 100% of the time, and not getting in any shade (because roads aren't shaded generally!). Just like standing out in the middle of a field on a sunny 27C day is a bit of a bad plan, so is sitting in a MX5 without sun protection.
    • I also just ordered some Frankenstein bolts and side mounts to fit a hard top Just in case I do find one, basically so it doesn't need to be fixed to the car with only the front latch.......and then gaffa tape to keep it in place for the RTN journey from wherever I get it
    • If your temps are fine now, you probably won't have any issues with where your vents are as they don't look right up at the windscreens high pressure area, so any differences when giving it the beans for extended happy laps would be minimal, but, they should vent heaps when stuck in traffic  Much like how that reverse cowl on my SS let "visible" heat out when stationary, but, because it was basically at the windscreen my coolant temps on the Hwy actually raised because air was being fed into it at speed (110kph), to only come back down to around 90° when I got off the Hwy And your 100% correct about the NC currently not needing vents, but, if I was to add a turbo, and a oil cooler and intercooler in front of the condenserand radiator, and then take it to the track???? It is apparently a recommend requirement if I don't want to worry about coolant or oil temp issues, but, any of the above are possible scenarios, over time As it sits now, with the triple pass radiator and stock air conditioning system, I have absolutely no issues with either temps or air conditioning efficiency, I've been basically daily driving thie car for the last month, both on the Hwy, and peak hour, bumper to bumper traffic, but, that's pretty much expected from basically a standard engine  Talking about no issues daily driving, it was 39° the other day and I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 and then M7, with the top down, and with the air conditioning blowing nice cold air on my feet, balls, and face, well, there was one issue, my head and arms got pretty sun burnt Note to self: leave a hat and sunscreen in the car for such days 🤣
    • I would agree, unless you need something specific to the HV motor/battery side repaired or investigated, any mechanic will be able to perform normal services, but if you prefer, maybe look for a mechanic who regularly services/repairs Nissans, the VQ engines are pretty common in the Nissan lineup.  Sorry, I can't make any suggestions, I don't live in Vic.
