dc5s
Hi, my name is Stefan. I live in San Antonio, Texas, USA and it sucks here, cause we dont have any of the good cars. All we have is shitty knockoffs. My RSX-S, i like it, but it is NO DC5R! I will be moving to Perth, Australia in March 2007! I cant wait! Ive been trying to find a Skyline forum or group (there is a small population here in SA of R34 and R33 (total of 7 known). But i want a 1966 Prince Skyline GT-B to import to America (since it is old enough to be exempt from safety and smog) So if anyone knows anyone who is getting rid of one i am looking to buy. I hope to learn and contribute to this site and i will look foward to meeting some of you in 2007. Thank you. Rezz
You're coming to Perth, Western Australia? How did you find out about that place? Can I ask why you want to come to Perth? I'm from Perth (but now in Japan) and anybody from Queensland (sub-tropical north eastern Australia) will tell you that Perth is sh*t and Brisbane is the best place in the WORLD! I'll be 100% original and concur with Brisbane people and say that you should reconsider, and go to Brisbane... it's the best. Having said that, Brisbane is the most overrated place on the planet, so choose wisely my son Oh and welcome to the forums... if you need any advice about Perth just send me a PM Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/71971-nice-to-meet-everyone/#findComment-1327158 Share on other sites
dc5s
Just a question? Is there something i should know ahead of time, since im an American (not proud) and am wanting to move to Australia? For example, when i was in France i was spit on and ridiculed. I dont want that. What i am trying to get away from is all the drama and crap America puts itself through trying to "police the globe". I dont think the rest of the world is our business, but the higher ups believe "the world will fall into chaos" with out our policing. So i am moving to Australia, cause ive never heard of Australia going to a big war and sticking their nose where it doesnt belong...i like that. So am i going to get spit on? What is the Australian Dollar compare to the American dollar? What is a website i can check rent for a place when i move? Any information would really help. And what is kw compared to horsepower? I lived in america for about 5 years, my family were all born there apart from my dad and his side of the family and my sister. I Would prefer Australia to America any day as for a place to live check out www.realestate.com.au you can choose by location, price etc.. all depending on what type of work you will be looking at doing. POOMBAH
Hey Stefan, I used to live in the States as well but only when I was very little so I don't remember very much about it. My Family moved from Pasadena, California to Sydney when I was around 6 years old an my Parents have told me they never regretted the move here I have been back to California on vacation though. Very nice to visit, but I can't say anything about San Antonio as I've never been. 2 things that are different in Aus... * Driving on the opposite side * People in Sydney are more laid-back than in California, but can't say anything about people in Perth as I've never been there aswell BTW what's it like to live in Texas? dc5s
Probably brisbane now. Texas, is pretty cool, i like it better than anywhere else in the USA, because we are the republic of texas so we somewhat make our own laws. But san antonios car scene is huge! Lots of RX7's, MkIII and MkIV Supras, RSX-S (integra dc5), Mustangs(GTs suck!), Slowmaros, EVO VIII's, STi's, WRX's, Viper's, etc. and then there is usual ricers (civics, tercels, sunfires...all equiped with AutoZone fart cans and blue lights special intakes...LOL, HAHAHAHA!) But the cop presence is huge! If you speed in San Antonio you are almost guranteed a citation. If you race your car is impounded and you go to jail...if they dont crush your car and you DO get it back, you have to convert it back to stock before you can drive! BTW, i would never say "back in the states its better because". EVER. Im moving cause i dont like it and i want a more european relaxed lifestyle instead of a negatively baised judgmental rush. dc5s
Ummmm, well from what i hear Sydney is expensive. Im 19 and when i move there i will only have just turned 21. So i am looking for something around US 900$ a month ($1100AU). So Brisbane looks good and its coastal (im a surfer so i require salt water, 4'-8' surf and a view) LOL. dc5s
I know, America is so strict. They dont trust their citizens. No i havent seen or even had a chance to look for a job. Do you know if it is difficult to aquire a steady job? I am a car salesmen with 1 year of college behind me (business marketing), but i quit school for now. What is the cost of school there? In Brisbane? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/71971-nice-to-meet-everyone/#findComment-1330129 Share on other sites
Sl!m
since I never even finished highschool in australia, I have no idea about the prices of University...but the main thing you need is Experiance. like I said I never finished school but had alot of experience in IT, and am sitting on a job paying little bit more than $50k/year. thats with no school and no training just experiance.. now work pays for my studying.
