Hey Guys

not sure if this is in the right area, but i just wanted to get some recommendations on turbo timers. I have just got my car imported and of course i am wanting to start doing things to it. first thing will be the alarm and i fgured i may as well get the turbo timer hooked up at the same time.

So what turbo timer do you recommend if you could get any brand and any model.

and secondary do you think its worth getting a fancy turbo timer or just something that does the job.

cheers

I'd like to suggest the new Greddy turbo timer. Bought one about 1 month ago for $120 from ebay delivered. Not only is it a timer, but it can record your top speed, 1/4mile time, lap time, read your rpm, display your battery volts/status and the list goes on. Im happy with it...plus it has a blue screen...oooh

i recommend a turbo timer... not a multi-display TT unit

reason?

will you actually use those features? will you even get them connected up?

i bought a $40 (older) apexi turbo timer of the forums and it is just a machine that lets the car 'run down'. took me 2 hours to install myself (only a screwcriver and electrical tape and on the side of the road in 30deg heat!)...

to get the fancy ones to work might need an auto electrition to hook up all that crap.

most people end up hiding their TT or putting it in an obscure location anyway which makes it impossible to see the screen anyway when driving to use the fancy features...

--> so, i say don't pay for what you won't use, but hey that's just my opinion!

cheers,

Warren.

In all honesty why do you need one, for starters there illegal in Tassie anyway and you will get one very BIG defect for it and they now come under the new anti-hooning legislation when found on vehicles. Is it really that hard just to take it easy for the last few k's of your trip, sit in the car for another 30sec and then switch it off with the car in gear making it safe??? If you need a hand in hooking one up if you decide to go down that road then shoot me a PM and i'll help ya out but in all honesty and ask anyone that is in the racing/mechanical side of things they will tell you that a TT is just another way to waste money, my 2cents anyway

Well if I agree with not using one as much (i prefer to wind down my driving) but I have an Apexi Pen turbo timer. I got it for about $140. I've installed mine in the top right hand corner of the windscreen so it is hidden. It has features like battery voltage (useless cos of the factory gauge), O2 sensor voltage and Air/fuel ratio.
