Hi All,

I have been a long time reader on this forum but this is my first post. Before I get to my questio though I would like to thank all the people that research the answers for people like me, I have found so many answers in these forums and saved myself so much time so thank you all again.

Recently I have been trying to collate a complete list of the differences between the Series I and Series II R34 Skylines. Using the Motor Traders website I have got this information so far.

The Series I Specs:

http://imports.motortraders.net/imports/sp...spec.asp?id=549

The Series II Specs:

http://imports.motortraders.net/imports/sp...spec.asp?id=533

As you can see this information is pretty thorough and the two things that I cannot confirm is how the LSD was changed in the Series II R34 (I read once that this is modified in the Series II model).

The other item that is unclear is the colours that are available for the Series II (I also read somewhere once the you could get the Series II in 'Lightning Yellow').

The biggest gap in my list of differences however is the differences in the interior of the two models. I know there were a few changes but I have not been able to find accurate and confirmed answers.

I have also read somewhere that in the Series II model the manufacturers started to reduce costs by skipping out on some smaller build finish items such as painting the 'Turbo' engine label clip-on. Is this true? If so, what other smaller items were skipped in order to reduce costs.

I appreciate all your input!

Thanks in advance,

Ozan.

The series II have steel pedals( on gtrs , i don't know about gtts )and clear front and side blinkers .

Gtrs have gone back to plastic radiator tanks in the series II ( alloy in S one ) , different oil cap on series II and darker rear glass .

The series 1 had a better front bumper. Even though they improved performance slightly it seems that they cut back on other things like overall quality, looking at another thread that had their differences in pics the series 2 had alot of little things removed ie: end caps and lower quality interior parts.

RyanN,

Don't supposed you still have the link for this thread do you? I'd love to take a look at it.

check out the the three links in the first post.

Fantastic, thanks for that RyanN... Looks like the series one is the way to go. I can always get more torque in the car but build quality is very important.

Thank you all for your response, much appreciated.

What an ANTI-CLIMAX!! :)

Just got an email back from Nissan Japan (hey why not go to the top of tree!) with an attatched spreadsheet featuring all the differences between series 1 and 2.

Obviouslly this question wasn't meant to be answered... well i tried.

If anybody does find a genuine answer keep us updated!!

Not too sure about Series 3's if they were made?

Hey guys, thanks for the info.

I am currently looking at a series 2 R34 and I noticed that the engine bay is not the same colour as the body with is bayside blue. The engine bay is much darker. GTR-registry VIN check shows it is a series 2 and everything else checks out. Could someone else confirm if this was the case for base series 2 34's as i was under the impression that this was for series 1's only?

Thanks!

Going by GTR-Registry you'd be right (and I'm aware of no other source)

BP9 (darker blue) seems to be S1 only.

TV2 (bayside blue) seems to be S2 only.

So something isn't adding up, and it would be monumentally unlikely that someone resprayed the engine bay a Series 1 colour...

    • Hey lads, reviving an old thread.  As an update, since the last time replied to this thread, ive done mostly suspension. Havent touched the motor except for maintenance. Though upon changing spark plugs, found out i had splitfires pre-installed! Updates: - Got me some stock airbox top cover and snorkel to fit onto the original intake. Should be free of defects - Bought a set of R34 GT-T brakes (not installed yet, going to rebuild + respray in champion blue + white 'Nissan' text) - Bought the last set of bilsteins from @Sydneykid and had them installed. Has been making some sounds on the rear but hopefully should be sorted out after this New Year break. - Regreased front caster rod bushings (poly bushes..) - Rear upper camber arms - Whiteline sway bars (BNF27Z 22mm + BNR11XXZ 24mm).  The rear sway bars are a bit short (ive read 50mm else where) but was still able to get them in.  Anyhows, I reckon suspension is sorted now. Maybe replace bushes (do have a set of front upper control arms from SK not installed yet) but should be okay for now. From now, I'm wanting to start working on the motor, drivetrain etc etc. Still debating on the order to go on and what to buy etc but: - ECU ( Haltech or Link ( Link states that it dont support A/T or AWD functions... Can anyone attest to this? ) - Highflow turbo ( ATR43ss2 ) - Intercooler ( Not decided yet, but cant find many good afoordable ones. Toshi says to opt for crossflow Japanese. Bit difficult this one, unless I get a returnflow Blitz from JJ? ) - Injectors ( Any recommendations ? I do have a nismo FPR ( Thanks SK ) ) - Seats - Tune by either Toshi or DVS To be fair, I did consider just keeping the stock turbo and nistuning it. Sat in a mates stock N, that had something like 200kw, and I reckon that felt more than enough. Maybe I should just go this route ahhaha. Too many choices.... Planning a trip down south, so wanting to just clean things up and make sure it gets to and from in one piece. Anything else specifically I should do before ? Cheers lads
    • Must be for the car’s lucky charm 🤷🏽‍♂️ She runs fine, but it just seems to take about 1L less. Maybe I’ll have the oil sump dropped at some point to check if there is anything
    • Hmmm interesting. Mine is the exact same and clearly the right one.  The mystery of the engine oil being full after 3.5-4L continues
    • Yes I as well would like to find out where I could get some of the seat material with the red or blue small squares in it
