Hi All

I just fitted a ARC FMIC Kit yesterday and the power feels more smoother but no as great...the kit was second hand, do you think that there could be a hole in the cooler or hosing, or do you think its just my imagination...any help would be great...and yes ive double checked the clamps and they are super tight....cheers

Hi All

I've had a small hole in my cooler before. You definitely know when you have a hole in that you can definitely hear it even off boost.

not vacumm but boost seems a little low (still at stock) but feels not a hard to kick in...i didnt know if this happened when fitting a fmic or not

Whats your vacuum at idle? should be around -500 ( reading of the PFC hand controller on mine)

Umm I am definitely no expert... but it just sounds like the bit of extra lag you get from fitting a FMIC and all that piping compared to the stockie???? Normal I thought - hence why u normally combine the FMIC with mods like a full turbo back 3" exhaust and a bit of extra boost etc to balance out the lag... the FMIC istself doesnt do much for performance - but creates a cooler environment to allow you to fit more mods and up the boost with less risk

Personally I wouldnt do a FMIC if you werent modding up - but then again thats just base on other reading in here - so i could have it completely wrong

i will check the vacumm next time i start up...brazen cheers , but i have a 3inch system

Yeah - but whatever mods you have - at the point you install a FMIC you will get an increase in lag over what u had before the FMIC... did u have a FMIC before and just swapped to a Blitz system - or go from stock sidemount to FMIC?

Yup - thats all it is - you've introduced a bit more lag with the extra length of intercooler pipe - so it'll feel a bit more sluggish - although your peak performance probably hasnt dropped - just changed your curve.

The FMIC just now will allow you to do a few more adventurous things to up your power and push it power back down the curve a bit - whereas pushing a bit more with the stock cooler would start getting risky further down the track... talk to your tuner... but the FMIC and maybe a couple of extra bits and pieces should now let you up your boost if you so wish or do more hardware mods. It wont take much now to get that lag out of the way and make the car FEEL fast again :(

if the cars stalling, from my experience, the fmic should have nothing to do with this saga..

perhaps, check with your tuner about these few things..

- b.o.v could be leaking,

- fuel pump maybe earthing

- if its a series 1, rb25det, check you coil packs & the ignitor pack above the #6 coil pack

- crank angle sensor maybe ****ed, & might need replacing

* my car did this, i though the b.o.v maybe leaking, but that wouldnt cause your stall

- my cars crank angle sensor was not sending the right signal, & the ignitor pack was ****ed as well, ive replaced both c.a.s & the ignitor pack ( as we speak its in shop) & the mech said thats my problem, maybe yours too...these are just a thought...
