hey mate, i'm currently undergoing the same type of conversion - car will be finished sometime next week, hopefully bout tuesday or so

First, secure yourself a good, decent half cut that's complete with ecu, wiring loom etc.

Next, you might want to cange the timing belt and water pump. The tailshaft and yoke need to be modified to fit into the 32, as well as the gearbox mount. Thermofan might have to be used as i don't think there's enough room for normal fan.

DO a search and you'll find more detailed info on it. This is just a quick run down. If i've missed anythin let me know

good luck

Hi Guys,

With the tailshaft I used the front piece from the 33 as it goes straight into the back of the rb25 gearbox and the back piece of my orignal one as it goes straight into the back of the diff. The tailshaft will have to be sent to a specialist to be balanced and shortned.

With the rb25 loom you will also need to find someone that knows what they are doing to wire it up to the 32. I waited 3-4 weeks or so for a guy I wanted to do the job. As I didn't know it was going to be a problem I wasn't prepared and had to wait all of that time.

There is a thread on how fix the speedo drive problem. I bought a gtr drive that fits into the gearbox and fitted the rb25 wheel on it.

I also had my hicas disabled with a lock kit.

Make sure when you guys get an engine that you check the stud bolts on the exhaust manifold. It is a common problem for the heads to snap off. While the engine is out make the most of it and change them. Although when doing so you will have to change the manifold gasket also.

Take Care

Mark

hey, just a question with the speedo - i've been told the rb25 box runs off an electronic source for the speedo, and replacing it with a late model r32 dash or GTR dash will fix the problem, can anyone confirm or clear this up for me?

  • 2 weeks later...

i did this in my garage all i needed was a thermo fan and someone to wire up ecu if your in sydney this bloke will do it jim 0415904947 your standard rb20 box will bolt straight up if the engine is standard it will last but with any more than 200kw at wheels you will blow the box this happened to me 3 times also use rb20 engine mounts put egine and gearbox together and put it into car in one hit. much easier. one other thing is heater hoses jus make small adapters on passenger side when goes through firewall any other ? pm goodluck
