Gauges in the ceffy

Yo,

Where do you guys put your gauges?

I'm about to buy a few and need a place to put them.

I'm thinkin-

1- try to fit em under the stereo (my preference, like in GTiRs)

2- on top of the crashpad (the place on the dash the passenger would look at)

3- above the glovebox drilled into the dashboard.

4- some other mount place like.. on the side of the console where the stereo is on the passenger side.

Majority of the time my car will live on the street so putting them IN the glovebox for stealth install also came to mind but then again just how functional that is is a bit dubious.. I mean sif you're gonna just leave your glovebox open at the track.

The middle vents would be ideal however I have my drink holders there so it's not an option (need drink holders!)

Any thoughts/suggestions/votes?

PS. Gauges will be 3 of the 52mm or 60mm variety. oil temp, oil press, water temp. Then I'm gonna rip out my water temp in my air con duct and replace it with some sort of exhaust temperature gauge maybe.

i've got 3 52mm omori black faces and a 60mm omori black boost gauge...boost gauge blocking 0-40km/h on speedo, tacho blocking original tacho. looks awesome, lights up to match the dash...the triple is going into where the ac controls are -> leaves vents untouched -> and gauges are useful to look at too. move ac controls to below the stereo

oh and everything looks real cool when light up

yea im setting mine up below the stereo ....i just removed the old stock cd player and radio to put them there. ( it finally died......i think ...or the ground wire deteoriated ......)

at the moent i got my boost gauge there ........prob in the wrong spot ....cause i can see it very well....makes it a little dangerous to look at while driving

I think im going to sit mine either on the passenger side of the centre console or in the depression on the passenger side of the dash (bit to obvious to passers by though)

PS I can someone send me some info on wiring the stereo to the standard wires. (Sorry to hijack thread)

I'm particularly intrigued by replacing the air con buttons etc. What would be involved moving those lower? I would assume a fair bit of work isn't it? Functionally that would be great.

If it was a non-street car yeah I'd have it in the passenger side crash pad (the depression thing) aimed at the driver.

relocating the ac unit is actually 5min work...the wire are long enough...im so in love with that position right now...only thing being there's no going back since the hold for the ac controls is just a little bit smaller than a normal DIN size, so it needs to be enlarged. im actually fibreglassing that trim peice flat, smoothing it out and then hole sawing 3 52mm holes in there...once done it's gonna be factory looking...

I have a greddy temp gauge mounted on the A pillar, aswell as a blitz boost gauge mounted in between the speedo and rev gauge just behind the steering wheel.

This is how they were when i got my car from japan

The boost gauge only really blocks off the view of the Automatic controls RDN12

I did put my 3 HKS 48mm guages in where the AC controls are - perfect fit... and I had the AC controls sitting in the top DIN position. Ive since swapped them back because the engineer who was signing off on the car had a cry.

Thanks for the photos - where'd you get the side mounty things? Ebay jobbie?

I still don't see how it goes in the aircon place. I've got gauges there engineered JK

I'll have to take it apart and have a look. Thanks for the idea. I've always imagined there would be tubes and stuff there but if it's just electrical and it's easy to do that'd be ideal.

Hey i just put my boost gauge under the centre console. thats where all mine are going to go.

I put my boost gauge in the far right air vent. My aircon got removed in J so no biggy.
