Hey guys

Will be purchasing an rb25det half cut in the next months so just need a few options...

1) what to look for in a halfcut? I've never bought a halfcut before, DO they start them up for you to listen and check the gearbox (ie goes into gear, no rattles, noises etc???) What are some good/bad things to look for?? modyfied or stock, and what about k's, will they be genuine??

2) warranty issues, Ok, so i have the engine at home, put it in the car, and shes a dud, either piston ****ed or some major catastrophe.. whats the deal with warranty??

3) places to go to? anyone in brisbane recoomend a place to buy a half cut from? Only places i know is alljap...

hey, cant say ive gotten a front cut before, but theres a place along Kingston Rd in Logan a bit down from AllJap (its just near Moss St opposite side of the Shell servo) called Asian Auto Spares. theyve got numerous front cuts and parts..

i bought a headlight from them for $125 while AllJap wanted $300 for the same thing.. so, maybe their prices are also a little less costly..

dont have the number on hand, but im sure thats their exact name, so the white pages might be the go!

shaun.

Well I'm only speaking from my experience, most people normally have quite different opinions when it comes to halfcuts

I've heard of places that can start up a halfcut for you to hear it run before you buy it, not all places do that though.

They can be surprise packages, sometimes you get "goodies" with them (BOV, piggyback computer, etc), or you can get a "stock" one (as in it's stock at the moment but probably wasn't before)

km's are probably as genuine as any other complete jap car that you can buy... as in not genuine probably

Most of the time they come without panels, and a lot of them have had a crash, hence why they've been cut in half, so don't br surprised if you end up with one that's had a front end smash, the one I got had a front left corner smash.

I guess what you really have to concern yourself with is that you get a complete front cut.

By complete I'm talking:

- engine

- wiring loom

- computer

- manifolds

- turbo (if applicable)

- intercooler (if applicable)

- all inlet piping

- Brake & Clutch cylinders/hydraulics

- all associated bits & pieces of the above, like linees and stuff, brackets for things in the engine bay are good things to have

Basically I feel that a front cut should be exactly what it's called, the front half of a car.

sometimes you get brakes & suspension, count yourself lucky if you do

Warranty is normally 3 months parts, so get that thing into whatever it's going into and running as fast as possible
