Hi there,

i just purchased a trst gear knob. when i went to fit it on the car i discovered that the thread on my gear knob is smaller than the thread inside my new gear knob.

Does anyone have any ideas or tricks i can adopt to get it to fit?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Adam

Ok cool i will give that a go , i have some race tape lying around somewhere. just one question though does it give a tight, secure fit?

Thanks

Adam

p.s. i had no idea gear knobs/ gear sticks came with diffent thread sizes :)

it's tight for about the first week

I'm contemplating on whether or not I should use some epoxy and make it permanent.

Either that or a bit or rubber the right size (2mm) around the shifter and attach to that. You will find that has some of the best results.

you could try getting a 12mm bolt, drilling and tapping a 100mm thread in the centre of it, locktight the stud into the gearknob and then easily screw it onto the gearstick.

Just makesure you get all the pitch's right as they may decide to make it an odd size.

I'd go this way as its still piss easy to get on and off. Also if when its tight doesnt sit where u want it. Get some teflon tape (white tape used for plumbing) wrap it on the gearstick, and go around and around to desired tension and position :)
