After having not driven for a week, i started my car and its makeing a strange ticking noise.

It speeds up if you rev it, and slows down to making the ticking noise about 1ce a second at idle cold (1300rpm)

Cam belt? Something else?

Im not driving till someone enlightens me :)

Thanks.

Does it go away when it has warmed up? Ive got a ticking noise when cold, you can hear it the most when its about 1/3 temp, then goes away once it gets to 1/2

Im guessing it’s an exhaust manifold leak its coming from that area. Im taking it to my bros to get checked out, but im 90% sure thats what it is. Could be the same problem’s??

hope this helps

oh yea and my sound is like a Ticka ticka ticka sound

take a long screw driver, put the metal part on the rockercover (the silver long thing) and then put your ear on the screwdriver at the other end. do this while the enging is idling.if you can hear the ticking noise quite loudly in your ear, its most prob you valve lifters. cheap way of fixing that noise? use thick oil like 15w or 20w.

i had the same problem with my r32...try changing your spark plugs and if that works your lucky...but if the noise doesnt go away it could be your coil packs.

iv'e had to to change all 6 of mine in the past year and its a bit of a bitch cause it could be one of them thats damaged or all of them. The problem with coil packs is you cant physically see which one is the damaged one. At about 200 bucks each my best advice is to replace 2 go for a drive and see if the noise has stopped. if it hasn't jus keep swapping the new ones around till u find the damaged one. Worse case scenario is they're all damged and you'll have to buy 6 new ones like i did....good luck mate.
