Hey anyone else got this yet? It's pretty good, has real body kits and stuff and you can't enter a maxed out car against wussy AI cars as an easy way of winning races in the championship mode (like GT4). Has damage as well.. but you've gotta pay to get your car fixed. And as far as I can tell the damage doesn't really affect the drivability of your car. (maybe I've gotta smash them up more!) Not sure if I like it better than GT4 tho. It is a better 'racing game' than GT4, i.e. the AI drivers don't just stick to a predetermined path, they actually try to avoid you. Don't think it looks better than GT4 either. And the menu music is already pissing me off!

"Oh no, it's the cops!"

"Worse, the police cops!"

Was going to post this actually..

I hired it friday.. I am in two minds, but it is pretty damn good. Reminds me of a cross in some ways between NFSU and Gran Turismo (of course). Graphics aren't quite as crisp, or the lighting or something as realistic as Gran Turismo in my mind - feels a bit cartoony.

Replays aren't as good either. Its great though you can actually detail up your car with brand name kits and bits, and the mods seem a little more "real" . Its a bit of a straight ripoff at times though, but hey, no gt series for xbox means they have to try something.

It has all the good cars, but in a way, it doesn't counter so much to the enthusiast who just wants to drive a little daihatsu Move or something obscure and see what you can do with it. So you end up with the better cars, but this makes it a bit boring in some ways...

Lets not even discuss the music..

Smashes can effect the driveability of your car and i was fighting to stay steering straight after rear ending in one race the other night, it depends on what difficulty you have set it to for this setting "mild, medium, hard". I like the fact that ramming and shunting cars to win will lead you off the track, whereas it can get you wins that you shouldn't in GT.

I like the fact that you can get more win $ by using harder difficulty, turning off traction control, running manual, etc. This is the way it should be, to make the game a good challenge, and make you want to learn the full complexities of driving without any driving aids.

I like the fact that as you mod your car it goes up a different class, although this makes the game a heck of a lot harder.

Its scary in that many of the tracks like Tsubuka, nuremberg are exactly the same, so it almost feels like you're playing a slighty different Gran Turismo at times, just on xbox.

Yeah the way they've handled all the vinyl and decal placement/sizing is really cool; you should be able to stick decals where you want to, not just where the game lets you. (NFSU I'm looking in your direction!) I thought it tries to be a little like Project Gotham 2 in the car selection list? And you're right about it trying to copy GT4 level wise, I also think it tries to copy the feel of NFSU on some of the 'street racing' levels. It's definetely a better racing game than GT4 though. And because you can put your own tunes in the game that certainly makes it easier on the ears. (I still break out in a cold sweat just thinking about GT3's music!) Now if we could just combine the best bits of GT4 and Forza, we would truly have a massive game on our hands!

"Oh no, it's the cops!"

"Worse, the police cops!"

Lets not even discuss the music..

Yeah the music sucks balls. First thing I did was switch to my custom soundtrack. I'm having a great deal of fun with the whole customisation options. They even have a Top Secret body kit for the R34 GTR! Anyway GT4 seems more realistic but Forza is heaps more fun.

I like the music  I am getting priddy old though... :headspin:

I've only played GT4 a little, and Forza only a little bit more...

I agree with Gordo regarding the selection of cars... I prefer the handling, racing and physics of Forza by far... GT4 seems to be more involving gameplay wise though...

Yeh Forza is pretty sweet, i wish they had a wider range of certain models IE S15/R33 etc

The realism is amazing though, change anything or upgrade anything and it makes a big difference. Ive got a 98 Silvia (As its called in the game) with about 350kw and 1056kg and it drifts every gear all gear till the end of 5th unless purposely trying to race. -I did leave stock tyres on for dorifto fun :P

But some of the drifting you can do is amazing, and the replays are just gold with big fat black marks swaying everywhere.

Also the suggested line feature is awesome to learn tracks and for people who just cant play racing games where they have to turn

Hired it out today.

Not bad, for sure it's the closest anyone's ever come to GTs' standards.

The Porsche GT3 sounds very awesome, though most of the engine sounds seem average.

The modeling of the cars is pretty poor though, the angles/length of the cars' front end or the cars' width are the most common faults.

Pretty impressive physics engine though, I like the tyre lock-ups. On my first go I jumped right into a TVR Tuscan R, I had it spinning through first, second, third gear - I wasn't trying to though. Then I keept locking the breaks up and sliding into the sand-traps. I found it a bit easy to drift though...

It looks like a fun game, one that surely deserves attention. But I wouldn't buy Forza over GT4. Forza sorta plays a bit like PGR2, in that it delivers a large amount of cars - many of them exotics/expensive, has a semi-realistic physics engine but dumbs it down by giving statistics like 'Acceleration 5.5/10'.
