Shrub32
Kimi blew his engine "again" 36 points difference with 7 races to go Alonso has it in the bag pretty much! all he has to do is finish on the podium in the remaining 7 races even if kimi wins all 7! hyperthetically even if Kimi wins all 7 races he will end up on 121 Alonso can come third in all 7 and end up on 129 JPM time to bash some wheels Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/72829-can-weber-get-up-tonight/page/12/#findComment-1481760 Share on other sites

Beer Baron
what a shame, a good qualifying position thrown away again. Did anyone see who tagged webber? I went to sleep, where did heidfeld finish? ECR033
It was a bit hard to see, but it looked like Webber was hit by Sato attempting another one of his bonzai overtaking stunts at the start. Heidfeld finished out of the points (10th or 11th I think). Despite their qualifying results, it doesn't look like Williams have made any progress at all. Going on Heidfeld's very early stop, it would be fair to assume that Webber would have also been as light as a feather on fuel. Just to reinforce that they had no pace, Heidfeld fell away badly after he stopped for fuel. Also, is it just me, or is Alonso getting on everyone's nerves? I mean seriously, is there any need to hold 6 fingers aloft for the whole warm down lap??? I think we can all count how many GP's he's won this year (although, it may be more interesting to note how many he's inherited from Raikkonen's misfortunes as well). Beer Baron
Yeah Alonso is a bit of a knob. sad to say he will win this year for sure. I was hoping Kimi could beat him (though I'm not a huge Kimi fan I dislike him less than I do Alonso). Unfortunately I think this race will prove to be the final nail in Kimis 2005 championship hopes. Webber is very good on light fuel, but they were saying his car was only second slowest to a jordan or minardi in a straight line and some 15kmh down on the quick guys. that sucks. they really need some new personnel I think to get cracking on a good car for next year. ECR033
Yeah, I agree Webber is reasonably good on light fuel...provided he's not stuck behind a Toyota of course. It's just a shame that he got taken out on the 1st lap as I think he would have easily upstaged Heidfeld during the race and possibly battled for a point or 2. I really hope that he's able to bag some points in the next few races to get in front of Heidfeld again from a credibility perspective. Everyone know's he's got the ability to drive well, it just seems like he hasn't had any luck or a decent car for the majority of the year. Additionally, to be practically slowest through the speed trap just highlights the huge aero problems Williams are having. BMW have had a reputation for building strong, powerful engines for the last few seasons, so I don't think the cars lack of straight line pace can solely be due to the reduced engine performance. I guess that's the price you pay when you have an ex-Ligier and Minardi bloke as your head aerodynamisist...I wonder how much Williams would have to pay to get a Adrian Newey or Pat Symonds to come on board. Beer Baron
what ever the cost it would be worth it. that's their (well part of) their problem it seems. they have no decent tech people to design and develop the cars. I'm sure the BMW engine isn't what it used to be either and this compounds the cars problems. Poor Sam Michael I think is being stretched a bit too far. You are right too, Webber really needs to get back in front of heidfeld to retain any kind of standing. Silver-Arrowz
:hellpisd: I can't believe it! 3 in a row! The engines are supposed to last 2 races and it can't even make 1 weekend! relicr31act
As far as Alonso inheriting wins let me quote the well worn adage " to finish first, first you must finish". No point being the fastest for 75% of the race!! Silver-Arrowz
It's confirmed that Williams are going to Cosworth power for 06. There was theoretically a chance that the team could have continued using BMW engines as a customer next year, but after BMW ditched us Frank and Patrick would have pushed the bloody cars rather than use their engines. That's why we're with Cosworth." Too much politics and not enough engineering. Probably for the better. Paradizzle
Webber should swap or take that 'rumour' up of taking over fisi's seat at renault. I think Cosworth will be poo, they are this year and i think they will continue to be next year. Even thought they are going to v8's next year i think they have no chance, which is a shame as Webber is the shit. Roy
Cosworth are doing a good job this year, dont forget that they too changed hands at the end of last year, so the fact that they are doing this well amid ownership/management change...imagine how well they will do next year with added stability and level playing ground with everyone going V8. Im not too worried. Its good to have a great engine , but you need a chassis that can use the engine, and an engine that is compact, light etc so the chassis design isnt compromised too much...then you have reliability, power isnt everything, and my money is on the Cosworth serving Williams well Edited August 17, 2005 by Roy Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/72829-can-weber-get-up-tonight/page/12/#findComment-1527046 Share on other sites
