Well, as of 5.00pm yesterday I am no longer a skyline owner. I may return to the fold at some later date, V35 350GT is looking good, but for now I have journeyed to the dark side. No, not a local car! I'm not stupid!

My new ride is a '89 Galant VR4 with 4 of everything! 4WD 4WS 4doors :-) and a nice DOHC 2.0L 4Cylinder running 12PSI daily and 18PSI on "special" occasions. bye bye commonwhore :-)

The funny thing is that it looks like a "skinny Magna". talk about wolf in sheep's clothing!

The car is actually the mother of all EVO Lancers.

What a weapon in the wet! My brother summed it up as "This thing defies the laws of physics!"

Genuine 47,000km when I got it off the boat, the interior is like new and after a polish the exterior ain't too shabby either.

Will bring it along to the QLD dyno-day at Mercury Motorsports and see what it puts to the rollers.

strange you should say it looks like a skinny magna as for most uninformed people thats the first thing that they think the VR 4 is

the only thing the evo has over the vr4 is it carrys less weight than the vr4 and the 2lt block has a little bit more meat inbetween its cyclinders

I'm not sure if you're talking to me or not, but I've always loved my Vr4.

I bent two valves and lost a cylinder and put dents in all of the pistons (hitting valves) hence the Vr3.

I'm currently getting an engine rebuild, new turbo, cooler, computer, fuel system etc etc, should be pretty sweet when it's done :D

As autospeed says "Australia's best value performance car"

Well, 6 months down the track and I am still happy with the Galant.

It endeared itself to me with its forgiving manners at the skidpan day and I would have never have believed you could have so much fun blowing off SS commonwhores with "only" 135awkw. 10L/100km is a bit of a bonus over the 13 that the 'line used with today's petrol prices too.

^_^

Yeah, heavy car, ugly, but very good engine / drivetrain... :D

Evo's also have better suspension and rear diff setups than VR4s :) Among a few other things. AWD is a winner for drag racing off sets of lights but unfortunately not as much fun as sometimes loss of traction is entertaining.

Good luck with it :D

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
