nexen 2000's are compliance tyres and definitely rubbish. the 3000's might be a touch better but yeah.. you can do better.

i've got a set of 2000's and they are pretty unsafe in the wet even when only half worn. trading them for some new boots in the next few weeks, although this thread does my head in because there's no consensus about what a decent tyre is :P

Just got these fitted today! @ 220 a corner they are pretty well priced,

their performance seems pretty good also! i've not tested them out a great deal but from what i've done so far they are looking quiet nice.

with around 500hp they hold traction and have a pretty good turn too. more testing to come!

Well i've used in both wet and dry. and i quiet like!

Whats the price of the Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001, in the 16" and 17" sizes if you said you can get them for better price then a Toyo t1r?

The Bridgestone in a 255/40/17 $284 to anyone wich is a special price atm.. but i can get a bit better price for myself, but the toyo from another place i know were axactly $300 tyre

My Adrenalins are going on this weekend .. ill let you know what i think

Dave

Well,

After having my C drives on the front for a long time now, they are just getitng worse and worse

I have used them on motokharnas but now they just lose so much grip, still bit of tread left in them, last night at Oran Park was understeer city when it was meant to be drift night :)

5 out of 10

I wanted to get the 595's but apparantly they dont come in my size (225/50/16) so they have said the dunlop SP9000's

Ive still got the 535's on the rear but this tyre shop swears the sp9000's are better than the 535's

well, lets go tyre shopping!

Those Federal 535's aren't the most expensive tyre ($120 Each for 225/50/16) but wow I am damn impressed with their 'overall' performance. Wet grip is quite good, cornering is predictable and straight line grip ok.

For $120 a pop they are the best cheap tyre around I feel.

Cubes - my fed 535s held up really well, but after doing a couple days doing motokharnas and drift days and a few track days - they have been well but now they just dont get traction in 1st and 2nd

but for the price, awesome!!

They basically lasted me from sept 06 till now!

Cubes,

Just after I first got them on, did the bathurst supersprint - and they were tops

Then did 2 Oran Park days, 2 motokharna days and 1 initial drift day

aftr the drift day - they started to lose it :P But the tyres I had on originally for the drift day delaminated!

So I had no choice but to use the 535s and Im impressed that they still go!!!

A++ will buy again ;)

After having the Maxxis MA-V1's (235/45/17) on my 33 for around a month now and having my first real flex through the Adelaide hills yesterday avo, all I can say is I'm definately impressed!

At $149 a tyre I wasn't expecting heaps, but they just held well yesterday. The roads were a mixture of wet and dry, and the grip was excellent in both. The grip was very progressive, giving indication as to when it felt like it was about to let go, and when it did it was easily controlled again. A very stable and good value tyre with good allround grip. :)

Im using Falken Azenis RT615 front for more than 6 months and surprisingly the tread wear is minimal (rated 200 treadwear). However my Toyo T1R on the rear which is 1 year is like 25% treadlife left + not so grippy but the good thing is the even wear. Wanting to find a good tyre to replace it, is the Adrenalin any better then the toyo's?

Back on topic about these mystery tyres..

i went for a pretty hard drive thru the twisty's with semi wet roads i cant fault them!

the only problem i have is that the 40 profile is abit larger than my previous and it scrubs a little as i didnt see the tyre before they went and got it.

also i am having difficulty sliding! this grip driving isnt fun anymore :bunny:

Yeah mate i like the Falken Azenis RT 615 plenty of grip. Just put some 275/35/18/ :) on the rears.

I prefer a size of 265/35/18 for the Falken but currently they are out of stock. Was offered a BF Goodrich KDW (think its semi slick), so will probably try this instead. Anyone use them before and can give their comments on heandling & wear?

Guys i can confirm after the Wakefield track day that the potenza Adrenalins are absolutly awsome!!!.. turned corners like on rails and braking power to the max!...

I took a couple of guys for laps and they could not belive the amount of grip these tyers acheived!.. even in the wet they pout the power down really well!

I dont think anyone will ever be disapointed by these potenzas!

Any one else running them yet ?

Dave

Mine are 245/40/17 front and 255/40/17 rear.. they cost me $290 per tyre, and the bridgestone dealer at hornsby is doing them for $284 per tyre but hes a bit further away from me so i went local .. i think the rrp is closer to $330 odd per tyre but it seems the dealers are doing good deals atm

Lol went to get a price on Hankook RS2's from my local tyrepower store.. they said $380 a tyre for 245/40/17 HAHA!!!

Just saw these RS2's on ebay in that size. $700 for the four.

Set of RS2 on Ebay

I'm getting Hankook Ventus Sport K104's put on tomorrow... seemed to be the best value for money for my needs from reading this entire topic.

    • Haha yea it's a bit of a weird setup at the moment, just wanted to make sure I sorted out any headaches before dyno day. At the moment I've changed the exhaust manifold, turbo and downpipe, 460lph fuel pump and rising rate reg as well as the previously mentioned headstuds and gasket. The nistune was already mapped for the car as it was and drove around for a few months no worries. The plan is to run flex fuel hence the big pump, which I've wired direct to the battery through a relay to avoid voltage issues.
    • Um. Was the ECU the same as the one previously there? I know R33's needed R32 GTST ECU's or other tomfoolery to run Nistune. This is such a wild setup. Most people would plumb in the turbo then not drive the car (i.e tow it to a tuner). What's actually changed since it last ran?
    • I'm a bit stuck with this one fellas, I recently decided to undertake a turbo conversion on my GTS-4, ended up pulling the motor to replace all the seals and do an mls head gasket and arp head studs while I was at it. Everything has gone according to plan, no oil or coolant leaks, compression checked out, and decided to give it a test before I book it in for a tune As it stands right now, the turbo only has oil lines plumbed so that I don't put boost into my untuned engine, and I'm using the factory GTS-T crossover pipe with a maf and poddy as a temporary intake. The car starts with relative ease and idles amazingly, however as the title suggests it really doesn't want to rev up, runs very smooth but almost feels choked out and unresponsive to the throttle, almost like it's running lean or something? I've triple checked my vacuum lines and timing with a timing light, injectors haven't been touched as of yet to avoid flooding the engine and worked perfectly beforehand, new plugs and coilpacks, I've even unbolted the cat just to see if it spontaneously collapsed, no dice The car currently has a nistune r32 gtst ecu installed so I have no way to check for fault codes. At this point I'm a bit stumped. Is this normal behaviour for a car with a turbo bolted onto the exhaust going nowhere? I'd imagine the turbo wouldn't cause this much restriction in the exhaust without the boost going through the intake. Any ideas? If necessary I can link a video of how it responds to full throttle while in neutral.
