Were you wanting tyres for more street or track? I just got KU31 and they are really nice tyres for the price, very grippy in dry conditions and not too bad in the wet. Most KU36 users have said they are very grippy in dry but really bad for wet weather driving

Most KU36 users say they are fine in the wet. Noisy though.

Federal 595 RS-R semi-semi slick

215x45x17 got two delivered for $350

absolutely brilliant even when cold, when hot the grip is phenomenal.

federal 595 EVO, also brilliant, not as much heat required for them to stick but they put down 240kw in first gear fairly well barely spin at all

235x45x17 two delivered for $140 each I think

easily worth the price premium, go to option1garage to get them, no one else even comes close in price

So a full slick would only rate 10% better than a plain old KU31? Poor ratings imo, not a bad tyre but the ratings do not reflect its performance against other tyres accurately.

lol I too would like to see the baseline/benchmark ratings for those scales...bald retreads @ 5/10 maybe?

I'm sure $500 a corner all season tyres are at the least twice as good as KU31 in the wet...

I need steerers for the front, it will be for a street car so i wont be going slicks, not to mention im on a budget.

its between the re001, ku36, or fed evo's.

Now i know the re001's are alot more expensive followed by the ku36's and the evo's are alot cheaper, but i've only heard good things about the evo's. So should i just go the evo's? or is it worth forking out the extra coin for the re001 or ku36's?

If there's anything else out there that should consider, let me know.

Yokohama Advan = Nice tyre but hard.

NEXEN = Shit unless you are daily driving it around.

Kumho = A great all rounder.

I have KU21's at the front and KU31's at the rear atm and will keep using them.

Car: R33 GTST (slightly above standard power) + Hicas

Driving style: kinda heavy 4 the street (no burnouts, just oversteer), no track ... yet

KU31'z on the back $245 each

Grip : 5/10 good 4 'normal' driving (wet or dry) slight second gear spin

Wear : dunno 3 weeks old

drift well, fairly 4giving BUT they HOWL like barstards as soon as you loose grip

Maxis MA-v1 on rear $225 each (6mths ago)

Grip: 5/10 Similar to the KU31z , a bit better straight line grip but a bit less in the corners ( & no howl). Give less grip while drifting than the Kumoz, so a little less 'confident'

Wear: 6/10 used 55-60% in 9 mths( on rear), now swaped 2 front

Maxis MA-v1 on front

Grip : 5/10 Grips fine, no understeer, However ABS seems 2 kick in kinda early ??

Wear : a lot slower now I suspect

Have had KU31's on my mild GT-T for a couple of weeks now, i'd rate them as a cheap tyre that is better than average for all round street use.

In spirited driving they cant compare with the Toyo's i previously had on, but then again they're a shiteload cheaper.

For the price i paid and what my car is used for (daily - 30,000km+ a year) they're perfect.

Hankook v12 ventus. $185 for 235/45r18

Not sure about a score out of 10 but they had more traction than Pirrelli Pzero rosso, Michelin Pilot, Bridgestone re001...

The best thing about these tyres is they still gripped while spinning where others would let go and i would just hit the limiter. They also would allow you to accelerate while powersliding. Felt great on the DECA skidpan.

Wear was slow also. Great street tyre imo.

Not sure how they would stack up on the track. I suspect that they would overheat and delaminate if pushed too hard.

I think using a number is retarded but here is my opinion anyway.

Federal 595-RSR semi-semi-slick

Traction is amazing, even when cold they are decent but when hot the grip is phenomenal, I was actually scared to push the limit as they raised the bar that much.

When about 50% worn (they are now) they become incredibly noisy when cold, take a corner normal speed and a horrid screeching until they get warm, bit of a downside.

Wore very very fast, only been 5000kms and they are at 50% already with daily driving and a few hills runs on the weekend, only had them on the front.

I got them for $300 delivered for 2x215x45x17 so it was a complete bargain, even for $190 each they would be worth it (normal price).

Federa 595-evo

Another great tyre that doesn't wear as fast, but not as much grip however they are basically the same cold and hot which is a bonus. Used these on the rear and they hookup 240kw in 1st gear most the time in my r32, spin and chirp a bit and will open up on rough road. Same deal in second, open up occasionally but hold traction pretty damn well.

I've used the same tyres for 18 months (the car was off the road for half of that though), so i've put about 10,000km on them and they still look new.

Did a trackday with these too, nice for a couple of laps then they get pretty hot and slide around alot. But for a street tyre, without a doubt the best i've had. Really soft compound but like i said they still look new and still perform outstanding on the road in wet or dry, hard to push them to understeer or oversteer around roundabouts or tight turns they always do what is asked of them and stays planted - warm OR cold

didn't give them a 10, same thing with rating female, hard to give full points without knowing the whole field ;)

Hmm very interesting, with treadwere of 140 is hard to believe they were still looking new after 10k. My back two were gone after 10k of daily use only, no track days and shit, on the other hand front two are still ok after 30k. BTW is great tyre and I'll keep using them as steering tyres and try RE001 for the back.

P.S I always thought with R1R or other semi-sliks as they get hotter grip and handling gets better.

your rears ran out 3 times faster than the fronts with general daily use? from camber wear/burnouts?

the tyres were good when warm but they're not a real semi r compound like the r888 is..
