Can anyone comment on the Hankook Ventus R-S3 tyre?

They seem so cheap from Tirerack in the US, I'm waiting to hear back about postage costs to see if it's worthwhile or not.

Hankooks are awesome! But yeah shit in the wwet lol.

If its a weekend toy get em!

If its a daily I'd probably say not as they are noisey and the wet traction is rubbish I can light up all 4 in 1st to 3rd in the wet with my tiny 300kw evo ;)

It seems that most street/track tyres have poor wet grip (only according to the reviews I've read)

From memory when I used Federal RS (before RS-R) thy were fine in the wet but most reports say bad

Hard to know what's true or not

It’s all too subjective and probably a little bias too. I have faith in the reviews that do back to back tests

Chucking a new set of rubbers on the car always feels different, even when the new tyres are the same model. Handling characteristics change so much over the life of the tyre.

well basically track tyres have so much more grip that they let go very suddenly rather than the gentle squeal of a road tyre. This means they are much less predictable in the wet because they let go without warning

Has anyone used any reasonably/cheapish semi slicks that they would recommend? Just getting into the track scene and don’t want to be spending thousands on tyres just yet (or ever for that matter)

Cheers,

Amir

What size?

Kumho KU36 and Toyo R1R are both under $700 delivered for a set on eBay at the moment in 235 45 17

Are there any street/track tyres you would recommend for damp conditions?

Would there be a pick out of the common options like RS-R, KU36, Toyo R1R, Nitto Invo etc?

I'm trying to toss up between KU36 and R1R, both good prices at the moment but not sure which would be better suited to potentially damp or wet conditions.

Thanks
