Sort of on the subject...

i'm looking at entering my car into some events such as dutton rally, motorkhanas, hillclimbs etc next year... was wondering who around brisbane is good to speak to about setups etc?

Jason

Hi Jason

The 2 places listed near the top of this post are always doing track cars.

I know that Leda Suspension mostly do just track cars and race suspension setups. Both Leda and Fulcrum are good to go to.

i had a talk to fulcrum, and they seemed more interested in just selling me the most expensive of everything they carry, rather than listen to what i had to say and sit down and talk to me about what suited my application the best etc.

I asked them about whiteline products, and was told that they 'don't deal with them.. they occasionally deal with the sway bars, but thats it', and then tried to sell me all their own 'super-pro' bushes and other fulcrum products...

i called whiteline to find out where i could buy their products, and was told to speak to fulcrum, because they are the distributors.. i said that i'd spoken to fulcrum and they didn't deal with whiteline, which they found rather interesting as their rep was at fulcrum at that point in time.

so i'm looking for somewhere that will actually listen to what i have to say and work out what would suit me the best, rather than just "you need this, this, this and this, and the best (most expensive) of everything... now bend over while we ream you with $100/hour labour and hugely inflated parts prices etc...

Talk to Bruce from Leda Suspension.

He really spent alot of time with me even over the phone and the guy didn't even know me. He advised me on a number of different products and what I need for my application.

Give him a try and see how you go.....

thanks mate.. i gave him a call today and he seemed really helpful. He said he's happy to stay back one afternoon to have a chat to me, as i dont usually get out of work until 4:30 - 5:00... so i'll probably drop in and see him tomorrow afternoon... and its not too far from me either :)

    • It just depends if you're like me with a high level of OCD for doing something like hardlines, and highly critical of the little things, and then bugger all patience to get it how my brain pictures it
    • More than happy with the colour match Talking to the painter he recommended to give the top a few weeks for the paint to 100% cure prior to sealing it with the ceramic stuff Also, because why not..... I have a fancy pants Fluidampr harmonic balancer on order, the 2.5 engine uses the OEM 2.0 balancer off the old motor as the 2.5 balancer is a larger unit and doesn't fit clearance wise, which, because the two engines have different harmonics, isn't optimal, the OEM balancer does the job, but as the gear driven balancer in the bottom end is removed to fit a RWD application there is slightly more vibration, the Fluidampr helps with the harmonics that the gear driven balancer once took care of,  basically makes life easier on the oil pump and bearings when thrashing it around Hopefully the weather gets better soon because I'm keen for some cruising around, and currently, with the winds and storms we are getting, the amount of detritus being blown around from trees on the road isn't something I want to be driving around in
    • Meanwhile you could come down for a coffee tomorrow. Details in the events section

    • Hell yeah. It's not as if the path from front to rear is particularly squirrelly or otherwise difficult.
