I just checked out your photos after I read your post about 260RS and sent PM

Is that colour a factory colour?

Thought that a V35 in a colour like the ford XR purple would look good.

Like the newstyle blue coupe in your photos too

Cheers

look nice in  this blue.. 2004 model

Heya Jake - from that pic it looks like you're surfin the auctions - cool... any info you can give the rest of us on what the sale YEN on these is going around abouts for the different models? Keen on a fully optioned manual - but got no idea what the auction sales are going for on average... be good to know so we can then do our own driveaway estimates (and also help guessing reasonable caryard prices)... $XX @ auction + shipping + compliance + duties etc etc.

Cheers if you can dig up some auction sales history!?

Adam

Never seen these cars before.  What's the go with them performance and options wise ??

Anyone got some interior pics ?

J

Hiya Jay

HEAPS of pics in my gallery, including interiors, body kits, different rim looks etc... go have a squiz :P

Performance...

took one for a "spin" yesterday... and yeah thats the word for it - big torque from the 3.5... tyre chirps from an auto that I wasnt pushing too hard with the dealer in the passenger seat lol - I liked... and that was with a heavily choked exhaust for emission testing ;) Nice throaty growl to it too. Supposedly do 14 second passes stock. Same engine as the 350Z... in fact the critics calling it a 4-seater 350Z arent too far off the mark I spose - though Ill never admit it :D Plenty of modding fun to be had too... there are heaps of companies doing bolt on supercharger kits, and a couple of aussie mod shops like APS doing twin turbo mods to the engine that are fully ADR approved!

Optional extras.. HEAPS...

Factory aero kit option; 18" wheel package option; Bose sound package option; factory driving lights; sunroof; DVD Sat Nav (lifts motorised from behind centre console like in R34 GTT option); 6 spd manual or 5 MA/T (which I drove and it changes sooo sweetly); manual comes std with Brembos but auto doesnt; leather option; prob loads more

Then theres the aftermarket stuff - which is EXTENSIVE... these have been out for a few years in Japan and they are into a Series 2 already - so loads of goodies available from loads of the normal mod companies! :)

We need to ask the site admins for a specific V35 section once we have a few owners me thinks - coz they are just so different from the RB skylines.

Cheers

Adam

Thanks for the price info... be good to see if the manual coupes go for any more or less. Gives me a good idea of what to set my budget at through the car yards ... cheers Jake.

And Jay - yeah its surprising but most of the pics I seem to find are of the USA verion called the Infinity G35... but the Jap imports will be right hand drive :)

Here's a few of the many links starting to fill up my "Favourites" folder, for people starting to think about the V35...

Aaargh - colour picking is so hard on these cars. Gotta put my colour preferences on my V35 order in a couple of weeks... my leanings at the moment are, in order of preference...

1st Black

2nd Silver

3rd Blue

4th Gunmetal / Metallic Grey

I think Id be happy with any of those 4 colours... the black is first pref at the moment, but I have the blue itching at me a bit that might see it rise up in the order a bit by the time I have to finalise deciding...

hmmm

    • Oof, I will forevermore have those shredded gears in mind whenever someone talks about showing mechanical sympathy towards their car. Thanks for the photos, fascinating stuff!
    • Curious to see how the SpeedTek stuff holds up
    • The holdups last year were drivetrain related. I had the car out right after getting the bearing issue resolved. Third launch and the car didn't move after releasing the clutch. It had sheared all the engagement teeth off the 1st gear.    Thankfully no other damage was done. I set an aftermarket gear beside an OEM gear and found that the engagement teeth on the OEM gear were much larger and better supported. Looking through my bin of spare transmission gears I found that there are two types of tooth on the OEM first gears - the larger tooth and the smaller tooth. It looks like most aftermarket gearset manufacturers base their design on the smaller tooth. OEM large tooth left - Speedtek, OS Giken, etc or OEM small tooth right Decided to give that larger engagement tooth a try. Pressed the ring off an OEM gear and sent it to a transmission manufacturer here in the States. They did their "faceplating" operation with my synchro ring on the Speedtek gear.   I reassembled it, took it back to the track and promptly destroyed the gear itself.  I'll rebuild this and use it as a spare - thankfully just first gear and the countershaft are damaged beyond repair. Definitely disheartening but my welded on engagement tooth ring held up!  Moved to Speedtek's dog engagement design as the gears appear to be much stronger. So far they have taken much more abuse at the track. Also scored a Stillway lockout from the Netherands for super cheap. It's for some other RB transmission so it took a bit of fabrication to fit but honestly a very easy job. I also had to heavily modify the gates as they were very different.   Then for some reason at the last test and tune a silicon coupler below the throttle blew off and took out the radiator and fan. Thankfully it was in the burnout box and not down track. This car is really beating me up - I still haven't made a pass in it. Ran it through the gears many times on the street but it keeps biting me at the track.  Currently in the process of replacing the radiator and remaking the throttle pipe to remove the coupler and use a cast 90 and a vband. I WILL get this thing down the track...
    • Covers most of the above points really. There's a few exceptions but most just see driving as an irritating but necessary task they must complete if they want to get anywhere on time. Also see it as a good time to show their awesome multi-tasking abilities on their mobile and/or doing their makeup.
    • I don't believe I posted pictures of the second oil pump pickup I added so here they are. Data shows it gets oil pressure up to the relief pressure much earlier in the RPM. Is that important? Not likely... This was just another attempt to fix the bearing issues.   I also heavily opened up the inlet to the pump since it now had to flow oil from two pickups. I believe the diameter increased about 1/8".
